DYK: 82 percent of eligible individuals are choosing not to undergo potentially life-saving lung cancer screening, according to a new study released by the American Cancer Society (ACS). Lung cancer is the country's leading cause of cancer-related deaths, with most cases not caught until a late stage when the survival rate is only 8%. When identified early, lung cancer is treatable. As early stages are largely symptom-free, its essential to follow ACS recommendation for annual screenings. Learn more about annual lung cancer screenings: https://bit.ly/3VuoPWJ

Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) stands as a formidable and aggressive subtype of lung cancer, notorious for its rapid growth and propensity to metastasize early. Accounting for nearly 15% of all lung cancer cases, SCLC is characterized by its quick progression, often spreading to distant organs by the time of diagnosis. This cancer type’s aggressive nature requires clinical research to identify potential treatment modalities for patients with the disease. ASTRIDE is a Phase 3 clinical trial for the treatment of extensive stage SCLC. Lung cancer is by far the leading cause of cancer death. Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined. Symptoms of lung cancer usually don't appear until the disease is already at an advanced stage. This is why regular lung cancer screening for people at high risk is so important. At age 50, talk to a doctor about your risk for lung cancer and if annual screening is right for you. Learn more: cancer.org/getscreened #ILoveYouGetScreened #GetScreenedCA #LungCancerAwarenessMonth
