Sentience and the Future of Animal Care 🔑 What if we treated our animals not as pets, but as partners? The way we treat animals is evolving, and it starts with one key truth: animals are sentient beings with rights to autonomy, safety, and respect. In my work, I focus on helping caregivers see their dogs as active participants in the relationship, not just pets to be owned. This shift has profound effects on trust, connection, and behaviour. If we wouldn’t force a friend or child into uncomfortable situations, why do it to our dogs? Respect starts with asking questions like: How does my dog feel in this moment? Am I honouring their ‘yes’ and their ‘no’? Am I helping them feel safe at this moment or adding to their anxiety etc? 🐾 Let’s discuss how this perspective could shape the future of animal care—what are your thoughts? (Curious about how this works in practice? Let’s connect and explore together.) buff.ly/40fMw8X

Empathy isn’t just about understanding, it’s about feeling. It’s the quiet moment when you see a stray animal searching for food and wonder how it survives. It’s the connection you feel when a pet leans on you, trusting you completely. In animal welfare, empathy is what drives change. It reminds us that animals may not speak our language, but they feel joy, pain, fear, and love just as we do. As we navigate our busy lives, let’s take a moment to reflect: How can we show a little more empathy today—towards the animals we encounter and the people around us? Empathy starts small, but its impact is boundless. Let’s choose to walk in kindness for all living beings. #AnimalWelfare #Empathy

Here's how you can ensure the well-being of animals in your neighborhood and become a valuable resource for animal control officers: 🍞 Never feed a wild animal ⛓ Do not approach animals who are sick or injured, eating, protecting their babies, chained up or otherwise mistreated 🚫 Do not allow children to pull on an animal's fur or approach another's pet without permission ☎ Report animal bites, noise complaints (about animals), and mistreated or mishandled animals #AnimalControl #AnimalControlAppreciatonWeek

What’s Mindful Animal Care? ❓What is mindful animal care, and how does it help you and your rescue animals? It’s a compassionate approach to animal care that focuses on: 🧡 Building trust through calm, patient practices 🧘 Helping caregivers connect deeply with their pets 🐾 Understanding behaviours instead of correcting them I believe in creating trust and strong bonds so that we work in partnership with our animals rather than training them to be and do as we wish without consideration of them and their needs. 🐶 Trust and connection are at the heart of every relationship. Do you know the two questions you’re allowed to ask in order to determine if an animal is a service animal and not a pet? To determine if an animal is a service animal, you may ask two questions: 1. Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2. What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/g4QBcvHY #ServiceAnimal #ADA #ServiceDog

Shaman mentor healer animal whisperer
2wI totally agree with what you're saying Cat. I've been an animal communication facilitator, healer, and specialist for decades now and every time I see the amazing shifts/results world wide when animals are treated with such kindness and respect and not treated as pets (particularly domesticated animals) but as companions. They love sharing their insight, knowing and love with us humans so it completely dumbfounds me when humans don't reciprocate. My passion is supporting people to understand this so we have a much healthier and loving society with everyone/thing around us. It’s so great to hear how you shine your light on this topic, I really appreciate your work. Blessings, Geraint 😇
