In the 1750s, Saint Michael the Archangel appeared to Servant of God Antonia d’Astonac, a Portuguese Carmelite nun. In one of these visions, he taught her this chaplet of nine salutations to the nine Choirs of Angels. Saint Michael promised that those who faithfully recite this chaplet will receive his constant spiritual assistance as well as that of angels from all nine choirs. It will defeat any demonic influence throughout the family. It will gradually increase in us a pure heart, and when said before Holy Mass, we’ll have an escort of nine angels at the time of communion — one from each of the nine Choirs of Angels .
