DR LUKE OKOJIE AT 60
DAY 4
50 PACE SETTERS OF EDO STATE
… honouring Distinguished Edo State Ambassadors….
Edo State was created in August 27, 1991 by the then regime of General Ibrahim Babangida, after being transformed severally from June 1963 when it emerged from Benin and Delta provinces of the then Western Region and its capital was Benin City. It was renamed a province in 1966 and in 1967 when the other provinces were split up into several states, it had remained territorially intact even after becoming a state. Its rich history and long standing cultural heritage has been and will continue to be the envy of the world.
From inception, Edo State indigenes have always stood up to be counted and adequately represented Nigerian every sphere of its national life – politics, sports, entertainment, academics, entrepreneurship, commerce and industry etc. They are also eminently represented in all sectors of the nation’s economy, making the selection of just 50 PACESETTERS OF EDO STATE a laudable endeavor, as the list may not sufficiently capture the avalanche of Pace Setters and achievers with which the State is blessed with. But Accolade Communications, the organizers of this laudable project, in its usual stock in trade, is poised to live no stone unturned in the search for a comprehensive list of Pace Setters of Edo State. However, this would not be done in one swoop but in batches captured in volumes of compendia to be published overtime.
Edo State consists of 18 Local Governments and every one of them could be proud of eminent personalities numbering over 50, some of whom have held or still hold prominent positions both in the state, at national level and even in the Diaspora; and are also highly represented in all sectors of the economy and professional bodies including the military and paramilitary. The task of selecting only 50 of these eminently qualified personalities can only be done by a conscientious research organization such as Accolade Communications under the able leadership of its Managing/Director and CEO, Dr Luke Okojie, himself being a prominent Son of Edo State, inspired by the conviction of ultimate possibility and positive enthusiastic cliché of “It can be done”.
The saying that charity begins at home has become a maxim of due consideration in the circumstances thus, Okojie and his media/research team have resolved to beam the searchlight homeward in search of Excellent Leaders and Achievers from Edo State, hence this brain-tasking endeavor.“Yes, it can be done” ended his closing remark on the subject matter, charging the editorial board of Accolade Communications to go for nothing but the best in pursuit of excellence in the actualization of the compendium - 50 PACESETTERS OF EDO STATE, a book profiling prominent Sons and Daughters of Edo State and showcasing their achievements and contributions not only to the development of Edo State, but to Nigeria as a whole.
