This pivotal meeting marks an opportunity for a new era of collaboration between two of Africa’s most influential nations. Key Highlights from Amaka Anku piece: • A Shared History: While Nigeria supported anti-apartheid movements in South Africa, tensions emerged in the 1990s. However, the democratic transitions of both nations in 1999 reignited a shared pan-African vision. • Cultural & Economic Strengths: • Nigeria: As Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria wields significant cultural influence, with Nollywood and Afrobeats dominating globally. Despite economic challenges, key growth sectors like telecoms, finance, and agriculture hold immense potential. • South Africa: Though its cultural influence is less pronounced, SA boasts deep financial markets and geopolitical leverage through its membership in the G20 and BRICS. Joint Goals: • Nigeria seeks SA’s support for G20 membership. • SA aims to simplify visa processes for Nigerian investors and tourists. • Both countries agreed to promote green industrialisation and leverage natural resources to advance Africa’s interests globally. A Call for African Unity: In a shifting international order, a united Africa, led by Nigeria and South Africa, can shape global narratives on trade, climate policy, and regional security. You know, in this emergence of New Africa, I consider this to be the distinctive difference between the Nigeria 🇳🇬 Youths and the Youths of other African Nations. We answer giant of Africa for mouth yet we can’t unite to fight for what’s rightly belong to us but we prefer running back to our oppressors, colonizers, all in the name of Japa to be re-oppressed and recolonized by these people. Truth is, as for Nigerian Youths, I consider our forefathers to be more wiser and sagacious than us. Our forefathers never carried themselves by themselves given to their own oppressors or colonizers. But we, the Youths of nowadays, we will use our own hard earned money to by our own modern day slavery all in the name of looking for greener pastures. Believe me, it would be more profitable to ourselves to stay back home and build our own nations than all these helter-skelter we are running from one pillar to another posts looking for freedom where there’s slavery. Regardless of how we paint it, we will remain a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, if not 5th class citizens in another man’s countries. Dear African Youths, wake up today and embrace your nations. Love your nations and fight for what rightly belong to you. Japaying will never solve our generational problems even if it seems to provide coverups for our individual challenges. Even if you’ve japayed, let your resources and wealth and mind and body always visit home to develop and liberate your own.
