Three in five students experience some type of basic needs insecurity while in college. Not only do we need to build an ecosystem of support for college students, but we need to ensure those efforts are strategic, evidence-informed, and sustainable.
On 10/24 at 3 p.m. ET, join The Hope Center for Student Basic Needs and The Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) for an in-depth discussion on their new functional area standards and self-assessment guides (SAGs) for Basic Needs. The Basic Needs standards, with a revised structure and rating scale, provide individuals and institutions with the means for implementing new programs and assessing program and service effectiveness.
Panelists will discuss the process behind the creation of the basic needs standards, what it looks like to implement them, and how campuses can get started.
Panelists:
- Raymond Plaza, PhD, Director of the Office for Diversity and Inclusion, Santa Clara University
- Jacen Greene, MBA, Assistant Director of Homelessness Research and Action Collaborative, Portland State University
- Warren Anderson, EdD; Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Bradley University
- Jason Vlastaras, Director of Campus Recreation, Texas State University
Moderator: Anne E. Lundquist, PhD, Director of The Hope Center for Student Basic Needs
