Subsea electrification? It’s eSEA! That our subsea engineers and mechanics got to experience at our company visit to the Subsea Team at Bosch Rexroth in Lohr am Main. Based on different existing technologies developed by Bosch through many years for different industry solutions, their Subsea Team in Lohr is developing an interesting portfolio of products in their innovation labs. Among others cost-effective all-electric actuator systems which may be used in electrification of exiting and overhauled XTs. And what an impressive company; founded by Georg Ludwig Rexroth in 1795, merged with Bosch in 2001, and now holds a large number of production and innovation facilities in Lohr - a small German village with 15.000 inhabitants one hour outside Frankfurt, and where approx 5.000 work with Bosch Rexroth!! Further; as we have implemented Lean in our processes in CCB Subsea AS, it was really inspiring and valuable to witness several of Bosch Rexroth’s production and service departments during this full-day visit. Bosch is at the very forefront of Industry 4.0 and Lean production methods! Thank you Head of Subsea Solutions Markus Kubacki and your team for great hospitality and a full-day technology sharing session, and of course a special thanks to Subsea Application Engineer Eva-Maria Pfeifroth that in addition to facilitating an amazing technical program, also facilitated tastes of the Franken region’s local traditions, history and culture in the city centres from medieval times of Lohr and neighbour city Würzburg. Some facts to mention is that the real history of Snowwhite and the 7 dwarfs comes from Lohr, that Wilhelm Röntgen's original laboratory, where he discovered X-rays in 1895, is at the University of Würzburg, that every time you drink a Bürgerspital wine you support their elderly home situated above their wine cellar, and that on Würzburg’s Alte Mainbrücke built in the 16th century you can stand outside and be served glühwein, listen to music, watch the boats and the people, and admire the beautiful surroundings 🤩 It set the perfect framework for teambuilding; a fantastic group of curious motivated competent and caring subsea engineers and mechanics has returned back to our offices and workshops at Ågotnes and Kristiansund to add more value to our clients’ projects 👏🫶 Kjetil Fjellstad | Stian Kobbeltvedt | Frank I.
