Grant time for my budding crocodile researchers! The ECNM grants aim to provide direct support to projects related to conservation, research and better understanding of crocodilians. These projects can be carried out as part of a formal university degree programme (undergraduate or postgraduate), but also as independent projects associated with keeping and husbandry, research or conservation activities focused on crocodilians. The grants will include: - up to 1000 Euros for a project related to in situ crocodilian conservation/research/education or outreach - up to 500 Euros for a project related to ex situ crocodilian research/conservation/education or outreach. The funding can be used in any way that directly assists the work and your ability to carry it out (eg. fieldwork, equipment, travel, childcare, publication costs), and can be used as the primary funding for a small project, or as additional support for a larger project. "Learning From Gains and Losses" refers to the learning process that occurs when animals or individuals learn from the experience of gains and losses. In the context of this study, I wanted to talk about, "Learning From Gains and Losses" which refers to how animals, specifically monkeys, learn and respond to situations where they can gain a reward or experience a loss of reward, and how these experiences affect their behavior in the context of learning and motivation. The conclusion of this study is that the ventral striatum (VS) and amygdala have different roles in motivation and learning in monkeys. The results showed that animals with VS lesions showed lower performance in a task with a rich reward environment, while animals with amygdala lesions had similar performance to control animals. This suggests that the VS is important for motivation which influences how much effort animals will exert in different types of learning environments, while the amygdala is important for motivation in concurrent appetitive learning environments.
