Yesterday, CDG Conseil attended the conference "safety medical devices/innovation" organised by the SNITEM at MAISON DE LA CHIMIE lead by the excellent speaker Thierry Watelet Stéphane Regnault (Snitem board member) and Marc-Pierre Möll (BV Med Managing Director) and Pieter Liese (European Deputy) commented with very good inputs the conference. Europe’s Medtech Industry: Challenges and Urgent Reforms in Brief Key Challenges 🌍Global Competition: U.S., China, and Japan innovate faster with fewer regulatory hurdles or try to adapt. 🚨Regulatory Burdens: Europe’s MDR delays and increases the cost of bringing products to market. 🚨Political Fragmentation: Diverging priorities across European nations hinder unified action. 🚨Innovation Decline: High costs and slow processes discourage small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to launch new products. - Simplify MDR processes to reduce time-to-market and costs. Boost public and private R&D investment in Medtech. - Promote collaboration between 👩⚕️stakeholders and👨💼 Foster political unity to streamline regulations. 🔆Moving Forward Reforming or adapt the new MDR and creating a supportive environment for innovation is vital to preserving Europe’s leadership in healthcare technology. Collaboration among political and industrial sectors will be essential to ensuring timely reforms that prioritize both innovation and patient safety.
