Following an incredibly successful inaugural year, the data collection portal for the pioneering Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2026, in association with Schmidt Science Fellows, is now open. https://lnkd.in/eYfTvPV4 ISR 2026 (published late 2025) will feature an expanded scope, allowing universities to submit data that includes cross-disciplinary collaborations that combine one or more scientific disciplines with one or more social science disciplines, in addition to submitting data that includes the combination of multiple scientific disciplines. The Interdisciplinary Science Rankings were published for the very first time last November and will accelerate global progress in interdisciplinary research by championing best practice wherever it is found and by highlighting the trends that are driving success. The inclusion of social science disciplines as an option this year is a response to our engagement with universities. The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded $35 million through the #EPSCoR E-RISE RII program to enhance research competitiveness, foster partnerships, and create workforce development opportunities. “I think invention education empowers young people to see themselves as creators of solutions, not just consumers of knowledge,” says student inventor Jeanelle Dao. Inspired to create a solution to her grandfather’s struggle with opening doors due to arthritis, she developed CONDUITS (Controlling Doors Using Interface Technology with Steps) – a wireless mat that unlocks a deadbolt in response to a specific set of foot taps.
