What does an Admissions Officer do❓ 👮♂️ Admissions officers evaluate applications from prospective students interested in attending a college, university, or other educational institution. 👉 They handle the intake, processing, evaluation, and determinations of submitted applications. 👉 They verify the accuracy of information and confirm that application packages are complete and contain all required elements. At some schools, they have direct interaction with prospective students and advise them about admissions and applications processes and procedures. 👉 They also often participate in recruitment and marketing initiatives and programs. 👉 They ensure adherence to all regulations and department and must have an in-depth understanding of the admissions and enrollment process. 👉 They are usually first point of contact with students/parents #admissions #internationaladmissions #admissionofficer

As we continue preparing programs and structures for our new Middle School, it was wonderful to convene Westbourne Grammar School’s Professional Reading Group for its first Term 4 gathering. This morning, we enjoyed an insightful and in-depth discussion of two articles centred around ways of cultivating purpose, connection and belonging in the Middle Years (links below). Some of the wonderings that were shared included: ❓What special connections with trusted adults - a teacher, counsellor, nurse - get ‘lost’ at key transition points during a student’s journey (i.e., Kindergarten-Prep, Year 6-7)? ❓How can we ensure that connections with trusted adults are retained or established swiftly during these transitions? ❓How do we currently gather data about our students’ school experience? ❓In what ways are our students encouraged to share their stories? ❓What other opportunities could we explore to allow more of our students to share their stories and experiences? ❓In Careers Education discussions, should the focus be on future jobs, or future impact? 📖 https://lnkd.in/gMTJ-yYr 📖 https://lnkd.in/gJwHY6a6 Paul Rose Liam Bassett Naomi White Joel Hogarth Athena Kavaleris

How can students balance their academic responsibilities with other commitments? Juanna Shin, librarian at the West Loop Campus Library, offers her advice. “Many students at HCC are the first in their families to attend college and they often don't know what to expect. They find that community college is vastly different from high school. College should be taken seriously as a life-changing opportunity. Treat your education like a job. Prioritize your studies and take them seriously. Don’t hesitate to ask for help. There are many resources available, especially at the library, and we are always ready to help students and guide them to the appropriate resources. It’s crucial for students to balance their responsibilities.
