Looking forward to the next CIPFA Leadership Development Programme, which kicks off early May. These sessions are always interactive and I love the experiences people share, which brings a real richness to the sessions. One thing I love about GCPS leadership is the gratitude we all have for the many ways we are poured into before and during our leadership journeys. What a successful day 1 of the School Leadership Matters Summit, co-hosted by Global School Leaders and hashtag GEM Report UNESCO. Diverse inspiring individuals made a lot of thought-provoking comments and statements. What stood out to me was that school leaders are “change agents” and that have to maintain many stakeholders, such as their staff, and students and serve a community while managing to be “innovative”, and reflective and keep moving forward. However, many panellists agreed that “clarity of purpose”, “alignment”, and “clear direction” are the ways to support education leaders. Because their role is in constant motion, “over-communication the purpose”, makes “identifying, codifying and amplifying” processes less challenging. Nevertheless, “celebrating micro improvements” in the “slow process” of achieving policy changes is essential.
