Why are distribution grids so important in the energy transition and what are DSOs facing currently? Check out the video and come to the #PowerSummit24 to get to know more about our #Grids4Speed study!
Portugal is witnessing an accelerated energy transition. In the first trimester of 2024, 89% of all the electricity consumed was from renewable sources. But how will its distribution grid cope with such a growing capacity of clean electricity? Digitalisation and structural investments will be key. We asked our member of the Distribution & Market Facilitation Committee João Martins de Carvalho, Executive Board Member at E-REDES, to share what we need to achieve our decarbonisation goals 👇 At #PowerSummit24 next week, we will launch our #Grids4Speed study, which will highlight the common challenges across EU members and actions to take to ensure the distribution grid is ready to deliver the energy transition 👉 https://bit.ly/3TlMSqQ #energy #electricity #electrification #decarbonisation #energytransition

Harnessing German tech to transform industries and public sectors. I'm thrilled to announce that I'm diving deeper into the boundless world of renewable energy, green hydrogen, and waste-to-energy solutions. Joining forces with fellow experts from #Colombia and #Peru at the International Energy Experts Seminar in Bavaria, we aim to improve the quality, efficiency, and sustainability of our industries and public sectors through the adoption of sophisticated German technology. The following are our focal points: Renewable Energy Innovations: Exploring cutting-edge solar, wind, and hydro technologies that promise a sustainable future. Green Hydrogen Breakthroughs: Delving into the transformative potential of hydrogen as a clean energy source. Waste-to-Energy Solutions: Turning waste into wealth with advanced conversion technologies. As Bill Gates once said, "We always overestimate the change that will occur in the next two years and underestimate the change that will occur in the next ten." With the right technology and a bold vision, we're ready to change the world. This isn't just about energy; it's about keep pioneering a future where innovation and sustainability go hand in hand. #Sustainability #Innovation #CleanTech #EnergyTransition #GermanEngineering

Exciting discussions unfolded at the 14th IRENA Assembly, especially in sessions focusing on tripling renewables and policies & skills for an accelerated energy transition. Here are some key takeaways for emerging countries: #Investment**: Access to capital and financing for large-scale renewable projects is crucial for sustainable growth. #Infrastructure**: Developing the necessary infrastructure to support renewable energy production and distribution requires significant investment and time. #PolicyandRegulation**: Inconsistent or inadequate regulatory frameworks can deter investment and innovation in renewables. #GridCapacity**: Integrating large amounts of renewable energy into existing grids poses challenges due to limited grid capacity. #CapacityBuilding**: Prioritizing local capacity development, including training skilled personnel, is essential yet often overlooked. #Theoverarchingmessage**: Tackling these hurdles demands a comprehensive approach involving collaboration among governments, the private sector, and international and regional organizations. Let's work together towards a greener, more sustainable future. #RenewableEnergy #EnergyTransition #IRENA14A Follow us: MED•GEM Network

Just published! New paper on the emerging issues in the energy transition written together with Anna Sannö, Ioana Stefan, & Peter E Johansson, in an upcoming special issue on Foresight 3.0 exploring collective anticipatory intelligence. The many transitions occuring accross our energy systems are there to solve a lot of problems, however, new ones are created a long the way. Therefore it is important that we keep an eye on the horizon so that we can help mitigate future issues. This time we take a particular focus on Sweden, yet, the implications are relevant for any country undergoing similar transitions towards a more electrified, renewable, and integrated system.
