In the current economic climate, every Dollar spent has to be maximised. Spending money on sending workers on training courses is not a cheap exercise, not just the course itself but the day's wages, the worker not being onsite, the time spent researching the best course for you needs. Therefore maximising the time off site should be well thought out to maximise the outlay. I recently delivered a Before You Dig Australia session as part of an accredited course where reading BYDA plans is part of the assessment requirements. I was surprised most of the group had never lodged an enquiry and some had never seen the paperwork.... This is not only poor preparation but also not fully optimising the money spent, having spent many years in training you want you/r employees to be as well prepared as you can. As the example above, the people attending course had to not only learn the core learning but how to lodge an enquiry and how to interpret. Ok, bringing problems is easy, lets look at solutions. Speaking to BYDA about our tailored sessions on lodging enquiries, general awareness, reading and interpreting plans and members information prior to attending the course will put the worker at the on the front foot. BYDA sessions are FREE and will help you maximise the time, money and benefits of the company's outlay. Get in touch today either direct or go to the Before You Dig Australia and hit the Education tab. #knowwhatsbelow #zerodamage #zeroharm #safetyculture

Finally get the official acknowledgement of the course participation. The MOOC “Human Rights Due Diligence and Decent Work” highlighted how principles of international labour standards relate to company operations, how those principles can be most effectively promoted and implemented through Human Right Due Diligence (HRDD), the role of governments and businesses, and how employers’ and workers’ organizations can guide and support such practices.

The UK government has launched Skills England, intended to be a game-changing initiative to tackle long-standing skills gaps in our economy. This new body will streamline training and align educational programs with industry needs, ensuring a more efficient and skilled workforce. Keir Starmer’s critique of our “fragmented and broken” training system hits home, but Skills England is set to change that by funding relevant, strategic training. A key focus will be boosting homegrown talent, a crucial step for our future workforce. Full story below: 🔗 2-min read ➡️ https://buff.ly/4du3Haz #SkillsEngland #FutureofWorkforce

📢 NEW: L&W briefing sets out steps the government should take to make Skills England successful. The Government launched Skills England aiming to fix the fractured skills system. But how can it effectively tackle the serious skills challenges we face? https://lnkd.in/e2jtSfmF Currently, the UK lags other countries on skills, with government funding £1 billion lower in England than in 2010 and employers investing 26% less per employee than in 2005. 📉 To make a difference, Skills England must have real power to guide the system and deliver change. The briefing argues: ➡️ Skills England needs a clear remit, clear powers and clear routes for joint working ➡️ We need an overall lifelong learning strategy and integration with other policy objectives ➡️ It’ll be crucial to learn from other countries and previous govts’ attempts Read the report in full: https://lnkd.in/e2jtSfmF 🔍
