Solar PV to become dominant in most places through market forces only but will grid investment follow at the right speed?

Solar PV will likely be the cheapest source of electricity by 2030 for almost all jurisdictions according to a nature paper. Are our electricity networks and pricing schemes optimised for this future? What is the cheapest form of electricity when the sun doesn't shine?

Solar electricity generation is forecast to have the local cost of energy for much of the world in the future. Are networks around the world ready to move solar generated electricity around the grids and manage the peaks and troughs of solar electricity generation vs when the electricity is demanded (and for the cost)?

For once the cost of the corresponding needed storage was included in the total cost of renewables. And guess what? It’s gonna be the cheapest source all around the globe, for places where it’s not already the case! Curious to know how it looks like when taking into account additional needed grid investment.

Is it a sensible strategy to keep licensing out oil and gas exploration acreage in various regions around the world (including Norway), when all forms of energy demand can be produced locally at lower cost? The new energy system is hitting the world and its companies like a tsunami.

Have you considered a reversible power-to-gas system to store renewable energy as H2? When needed, you inject the H2 into a fuel cell to generate electricity. I am not sure whether this is cheaper as a BESS system over the lifetime of a project but certainly has an very small carbon footprint and you do not need any scarce minerals and metals....#foodforthought
