🌶️ Farming in Harmony with Nature! 🌱 Meet PEPA students Melanie Chen and Alade Djehuti as they harvest fresh jalapeños in ALBA’s fields. In the foreground, you’ll notice sweet alyssum—a beneficial flower planted intentionally to support sustainable farming. 🐝 Sweet alyssum provides pollen and nectar for bees and other good bugs, creating a natural balance that helps protect crops. This approach is part of the hands-on training PEPA participants receive, teaching them how to work with nature to grow healthier, more sustainable produce. 💬 “Learning how to grow crops while supporting the environment is eye-opening and inspiring,” shares one participant. At ALBA, we’re not just growing farmers—we’re cultivating a new generation of sustainable leaders in agriculture. 🌿 🌱 Learn more about how PEPA is shaping the future of farming at www.albafarmers.org. #SustainableFarming #PEPAProgram #FutureFarmers #OrganicAgriculture #FarmTraining #NatureInFarming

New paper published with some results from the Diversify Project Charlotte Bickler 🌾☘️ We found a roughly 30% yield gain across all sites for cereal-legume #intercropping across all sites. However this was modulated by a number of factors. 🌾☘️ Our findings allow us to reduce uncertainty about how intercrops will perform in realistic local farm conditions, give guidance for tailoring intercrops to local farming conditions, and provide key goals for further work to integrate intercrops into sustainable farming systems. https://ow.ly/wRnq50SA90x

We hear a lot about regenerative farming, and sometimes (or even frequently?) it's used to justify 'business as usual' in intensive animal farming, with wide-ranging negative consequences. 🍄 But to understand the potential of truly transformative food systems, a new book provides solution-focused examples and cases for support around better farming production methods and consumption choices. 💡 The book is also published open-access, and provides insights to help our work. It touches on new frontiers in food, not only for humans, but also pet food. Buy, or download it now: https://lnkd.in/eW2jFUUf Compassion in World Farming #Foodsystemchange #Regenerativefarming

A regenerative agriculture at its best ! Fourth year of our Syntropic custard apple, moringa and turmeric plantation. Following all the principles of natural commercial agriculture with >100% yeild than the conventional ag. 1. No till farming 2. Soil armour 3. A living root 4. use of high carbon compost to enhance the soil microbiome 5. Mulching with high C:N ratio wood chips 6. Cover crops 7. Livestock integration 8. Biological IPM practices We teach regeneration by sequestering carbon in our soils, making farming fun again Think regeneration … Think Aaranya farm (Enhancing forest microbiome)

As we approach the end of 2024, I'd like to take a moment to reflect on the major agriculture stories that made headlines this year. From the impact of climate change on crop yields to the increasing adoption of precision agriculture, it's been an eventful year for the sector. The push for sustainable agriculture practices has gained momentum, with many countries investing in initiatives that promote eco-friendly farming methods. Meanwhile, the use of technology in agriculture has continued to grow, with innovations like vertical farming and drone-based crop monitoring becoming more mainstream. As we look to the future, it's clear that the agriculture industry will play a crucial role in addressing global food security challenges. What do you think will be the biggest agriculture story of 2025? 🌾💡🌱 #abutispinach #Agvocate #AgroDiplomacy
