Researchers have discovered a potential mechanism underpinning why a person's genome might influence the subtype of breast cancer they develop. Dr Kathleen Houlahan, lead researcher in the study, commented, “Our findings not only explain which subtype of breast cancer an individual is likely to develop but they also hint at how aggressive and prone to metastasising that subtype will be.” Hannah Flynn and Yan Lau write about this important research in BioNews: https://lnkd.in/eNcXr2WW Why not share your thoughts in the article comment section on our website. #breastcancer #cancer #BRCA1 #BRCA2 #cancerresearch #genomics #genetics #DNA

A recent study conducted by investigators at Vanderbilt University Medical Center found that pathogenic variants of the WNT9B gene were associated with an increased risk of hereditary prostate cancer. According to senior author Jeffery R. Smith, MD, PhD, this association is comparable to that seen with pathogenic mutations in breast cancer. 🔗 Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eYvhd2rV #PCSM

Read an exciting breakthrough in cancer research, recently highlighted in Nature (by Lorenzo-Martín). They have crafted a cutting-edge model of the human colon that mimics real-life conditions incredibly closely. They've engineered tiny 'mini-colons' that allow scientists to observe and understand how colon cancer develops, right from the first mutated cell. This innovative approach combines the precision of genetic engineering with 3D bioprinting, paving the way for incredible insights into how tumors form and progress. It's like having a high-definition movie of cancer evolution, offering researchers a front-row seat to see exactly how cancer behaves and responds to treatments. This could be a game-changer in developing more effective therapies, bringing new hope in the fight against cancer. https://lnkd.in/eT6UAGYU

Looking forward to discussing our new CUT&RUN-based DNA methylation technology at the AACR Special Conference in San Diego! I'm particularly excited about how this approach can be used for whole-genome DNA methylation analysis using up to 40x less sequencing than current whole genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS-seq). Potential game changer for single cell / spatial applications!
Get a chance to talk with one of our epigenomics experts at the upcoming AACR Special Conference in Cancer Research: DNA Methylation, Clonal Hematopoiesis, and Cancer! Vishnu U. Sunitha Kumary has been key to the development of our upcoming #multiomic profiling technology, which enables mapping of #chromatin targets and DNA methylation from a single reaction. He will be presenting about this work during Poster Session A on Sunday Feb 2. Stop by his poster #A009 to learn more!
