We know from talking to our Clients that in some cases material is cooled down only to be reheated again in the next process, and that the lower the temperature the more expensive it gets, this no longer needs to be the case. A potentially significant development in the energy storage market: CATL’s latest grid scale storage product packs 6.25MWh into a 20ft container, 30% more than alternatives in the market and nearly double the norm 2 years ago. They are also claiming ‘zero degradation’ in the first 5 years. This will mean smaller footprints for new projects and higher early year revenues. This could help make battery energy storage even more cost effective… as long as CATL share the financial benefit with investors.

Clarios formalizes joint development agreement with sodium-ion battery developer Altris 🔋 In May of 2024, Clarios have announced a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with Altris (a Swedish innovator in sodium-ion battery technology), as they focus on low voltage mobility applications. Through this JDA, Altris will concentrate on advancing sodium-ion cell technology for low-voltage uses, while Clarios will apply its expertise in Battery Management Systems (BMS), software, and system integration to develop the complete battery system. This agreement builds upon a collaboration established earlier this year, which initiated the creation of a comprehensive production plan for low-voltage vehicle batteries using sodium-ion cells. This initiative is particularly timely, aligning with a critical phase in the global automotive industry's evolution. This is fantastic news, as collaborations strength our industry.
