We invited nearly 70 experts from fields including policy, industry, academia, and media to watch and explore "China in the World". In this era full of uncertainties, the concept of low carbon has been incorporated into global trade, investment, and the supply chain, and it has been gradually being wielded as each country's new competitiveness, providing strong momentum for their sustainable development. China is building a low carbon, systemic and constructive internal competitive system. Reinforcing regional transition and further deepening the integration of an active government and effective markets is the key for its future development.

Governments are becoming increasingly intertwined with supply chains and trade. For Fortune 500 companies, it’s not enough to just tick off regulatory boxes. You need to provide high levels of transparency. That’s why Altana is building the equivalent of a TSA Pre-Check for global trade. In Ep. 8 of Political Capital, I’m joined by Evan Smith, CEO of Altana, who speaks to how the company is partnering with governments to ensure transparent and secure international trade. Here’s How ↓ https://lnkd.in/exD6Qwkk

On Tuesday, Washington upped the ante on hawkish trade policy directed towards Beijing, increasing tariffs on several Chinese imports ranging from EVs to steel and aluminum. This policy action from Washington supports our view at Viewpoint Investment Partners that we are moving into a period of "reindustrialization" for Western economies, with a focus on rebuilding supply chains to be more robust to both geopolitical and macroeconomic shocks. Shifting focus away from free trade policies and globalization is something we expect will continue in a multi-polar world, with the implications being increased deficit spending by governments, upward pressure on prices, and a higher real interest rate for capital. At Viewpoint Investment Partners we continue to believe that commodities are positioned to do well in a secular shift away from globalization, and their inclusion in multi-asset portfolios will be accretive to diversification. Check out the note below as we dive into trade policy and consumer prices! #tradepolicy #trade #macroeconomics #geopolitics #commodities #investing #globalization #china #washington
