Making Pricing Make Sense (& Cents)💰 For B2B Leaders in Manufacturing, Chemicals & Plastics (Commercial Passion & Focus) 🏭 Coach, Advisor & Optimizer (no theory/book - hands on) 📈 Thought Leader (on good days) 🧠

The CSO, Chief Sustainability Officer, function is pretty new. Early 2000s for the first ones, large corporations adding the role to their C-suite beginning of 2010’s See below, hard to read. Thus this post. Quitting would be heartbreaking. Remember the Kobler-Ross change curve, please? Not easy. I can imagine. Because in addition to crafting a role that is new, with all that it means helping an organization to change, this role has to deal with more challenges on its plate. Ever thought of what it means creating a sustainability annual report? How many manhours does it take? Or request for research funding raising with research protocols increasing in complexity? Adding on number of regulations and technological watch to follow up… Budget goes there. Logic. It is lucky to do so much with so little. How could sustainability be anything other than a cost in this situation? This cost goes up every year because of new rules, laws, and so on. Plus marketing communications cost to handle green bashing. Not washing, but bashing. Just out of curiosity, I was reading about reporting protocols on sustainability, how do we measure it. The reporting protocols are becoming more and more strict: it makes green washing more difficult today. Some still dare to do it. It is not unnoticed. It will usually cost the CSO his/her job immediately. Or CEO. Sustainability is not solely a cost. Though it is difficult, for most because it is new, it is possible. If you were to dedicate 5–10% of your time as CSO to finding revenue potential from sustainability, where would you start? Are you ready? Do you have the tools and capabilities to make new sales with sustainability? #sustainability #b2b #pricefortheplanet #leadership
