The technology and design of battery-powered electric trucks are already sufficient for a widespread roll-out. Still, the infrastructure needed for its uptake in Europe isn’t - that’s the message from European truckmakers. Trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles must reduce their CO₂ emissions by 45% by 2030. ElectricDrives reports on very big truck charging news (that’s very big news, not very big truck) out of Scania Group, today, as they launch a new entity, Erinion. New innovations in truck battery swapping are coming to the forefront in New South Wales.

#Trolleybus. A growing demand thanks to #zeroemission operations 🚎🔋⚡️ #Trolleybus projects and investments are on a rise in several #European countries. Switzerland, France, Austria, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic are among the #countries where #trolleybus networks are more diffuse. Significant renewal plans are underway. Also #Berlin is considering new investments on this technology. On the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, Mexico City is giving ‘fresh air’ to its trolleybus fleet as well. Electric bus growing deployment is not the only protagonist of the energy transition in city #publictransport. Ooh Look - there’s a BIG one Down Under!🦘 Electric Trucks, Vans, Buses, and Taxis! The commercial vehicle market is all about a few key acronyms!…TCO aka Total Cost of Ownership, WLC aka Whole Life Cost, and GGWC aka Going Green Without Compronise (OK I just made that last one up!) 🤣 On a serious note - as renewable energy, bi-directional charging, and better batteries at cheaper prices arrive at scale for operators…choosing electric is rapidly becoming a compelling economic case! The eco is fast slotting into economics my friend! In that regard, I’m keeping a watchful eye on Wen Han Founder & CEO of Windrose Technology of late…a young upstart with audacious ambition for his all-around-the-world start-up! Wowzers! - ‘Windrose has established production facilities in the United States and Belgium, and it has obtained the world-manufacturing ID (WMI) in both locations. Deliveries in the United States will begin in the first half of 2025, and deliveries in Europe will start in the second half’ They’ve so far received orders in Denmark, Belgium and France, as well as the United States and New Zealand. It is also planning to expand into the German market soon and to set up a factory in France producing truck parts. I don’t know if Wen & Co are aware…but that perfectly fits the definition of a BHAG! Aka Big Hairy Audacious Goal.🕺 I spoke with Wen a few months ago and posted that conversation up here of course…and it would seem he’s fast backing up his words with actions.
