I wish sometimes people could see a little bit further when they read a CV with store manager experience. It’s NOT ONLY “store manager”, it’s way more then that. It should not be this difficult to find a job outside retail after spending all of this years multitasking and learning from basically every department, plus doing tasks that are not even in the description of a Store Manager position. I really feel a lot of job positions could benefit from the experience of a Store Manager. I’m still ready to take on new challenges outside the usual retail scene. #storemanager #opentowork #inbetweenjobs #newchallenge

Awesome opportunity IF you have a Bachelor's degree. There are hundreds and possibly thousands of greatly qualified and motivated candidates out here in the wild that will shy away from applying due to not having one. The successful retail world is often owned and run by people who have built a portfolio of success with no education, just experience. The MoCo may overlook the requirement for a properly experienced candidate lacking a Bachelor's degree but I believe they are limiting their applicant pool by marketing that requirement so broadly. Sadly, there are many companies and fields all over the world doing the same. Likely with great intentions and purposes. It's just an outdated hiring point of view, IMO. My advice? If you've got the experience and the track record to show for it and you want a career like this...APPLY! You may get overlooked, you may get an opportunity that gets your foot in the door, or you may even score your dream job. You'll never get the win if you don't get yourself on the track. 🖤⚡️⚡️

As a store director you wear a lot of hats. It's natural for you to take on responsibilities because you feel confident in being able to complete a given task to your own standards though that isn't always the best solution. A store director's real responsibility is to train and manage; to be able to step away and know that your team has got it covered. But what happens when you are given a role and sent to a team you did not build? How does one establish a new drive and process in a team already set in its ways? It's far easier to pick and choose a team from the ground up because everyone is starting on the page you've set, as opposed to working through old habits and processes. This is a critical moment for any store director and applies to all industries. Even now I am relearning lessons I had once thought mastered as I have shifted from running fashion stores to now directing and operating a Spa! To that end, and to answer the question mentioned earlier, it is vital that you spend time on the ground, in the trenches, and on the front lines so you can see where the old system succeeded and where it failed. As any contractor will tell you, not every renovation requires complete demolition and the same is true when overhauling teams that might not be new to the company but are new to you. Don't be afraid to take control and eliminate redundant or possibly poor performing processes but also strive to continue what's already comfortable, familiar, and profitable. Always remember, no matter the industry people remain the only constant. So long as you work with people and understand people any team can thrive! #directors #storemanager #storedirector #salesexcellence #salesteam #salestechniques #spa #luxury

I learned a long time ago that I'm best in roles where I can practice both "the ART and the SCIENCE," and the Chief of Staff role is just that. As a Buyer at Nordstrom, we talked A LOT about the important blend of the art and the science. And in roles since I've been attuned to how - when both show up - I find harmony personally and professionally. ✨ The gut, the vibe, the feeling, the creativity. The data, the analysis, the planning, the strategy. The merchandise, the color, the season, the customer. The performance, the quantity, the timing, the replenishment. The designing, the building, the creating, the collaborating, The business planning, the follow-ups, the strategy, the process. The movement, the outdoors, the play, the letting loose. The research, the reading, the analyzing, the business side of things. ✨ When I am in roles that are too far on the science side, I compensate in my personal life: hello interior design-side gig, pottery class, and coloring. When I am in roles that offer me a creative outlet - even a small one - I am happier and more balanced. The blend of "the art and the science" is key for me finding happiness in my job. #chiefofstaff #executiveassistant #artandscience #generalist __ In the comments: Do you need a blend of both the art and the science to be happy in your work? Do you notice when one area is lacking? Do you find that Chiefs of Staff are better when they balance both areas well?
