You know what I love about this video? Two BIG things: 1. 🌟 Team Stars - Daniel Pelkonen 🌟 Meet Daniel Pelkonen, our Operations Manager for Munich and Augsburg, who's been a cornerstone of our team since 2022. What do you do at Ukemix/Binny? I manage operations in Munich and Augsburg, focusing on optimizing processes, managing our van fleet, scheduling shifts, and onboarding new drivers. My role involves daily visits to the warehouse, making and sending work plans, and ensuring seamless communication between VOI and Ukemix/Binny. Describe a typical day for you. My day starts with visiting the warehouse, checking live data on our operations, and coordinating with the team to ensure everything runs smoothly. Weekly, I add all hours and tasks to our system, perform vehicle inspections, or meet with our customers for weekly reporting. Why did you choose to work at Ukemix/Binny? I started working with e-scooters in 2018 and have always enjoyed the dynamic nature of this industry. Joining Ukemix/Binny has allowed me to grow from a normal driver to an operations manager, handling various cross-segment works, including market launches and support roles in multiple cities. Tell us about some work you're proud of. I'm proud of our successful cooperation with Voi Technology, where mutual respect and good synergies have enabled us to share resources like their warehouse. Managing a multicultural team of twelve members and a fleet of vans across Munich and Augsburg is challenging but incredibly rewarding. What did you do before Ukemix/Binny? Before joining the e-scooter industry, I worked as an automation mechanic and graphic designer, which taught me a lot but made me realize I needed to be closer to the action, contributing positively to people's daily lives. What about outside of work? As a former football player, I enjoy staying active. I'm also planning to become a father and maybe do a masters in business. In public roles, we had a standard company vehicle, but we could only use it during work hours and strictly for business purposes. As a Service Manager in a bustling motorbike workshop, I have come to appreciate the unique challenges that come with this role. Here are some of the key hurdles we navigate daily: Customer Expectations: Motorbike enthusiasts are passionate about their rides. Meeting their high expectations for service quality and turnaround time can be daunting. It requires clear communication and setting realistic timelines. Technological Advancements: With the rapid evolution of motorbike technology, staying updated on the latest models, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques is essential. Continuous training for both myself and the team is a must. Inventory Management: Ensuring we have the right parts in stock without overcommitting resources can be tricky. Efficient inventory management is vital to minimize downtime and keep operations running smoothly. Team Coordination: Leading a diverse team of technicians, each with their strengths and weaknesses, calls for effective communication and conflict resolution. Fostering a collaborative environment is key to our success. Safety Regulations: Adhering to safety standards and regulations is non-negotiable. Keeping our workshop safe for both employees and customers requires constant vigilance and training. Work-Life Balance: The demands of the job can sometimes blur the lines between work and personal life. Finding a balance that allows for both productivity and personal time is essential for long-term success. Despite these challenges, the satisfaction of delivering exceptional service and seeing a customer leave with a smile makes it all worthwhile.
