Team Baytown partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation and Trees For Houston to plant over 50 trees in Jenkins Park in Texas. 🌳

Enjoyed this post, especially the link to the campus tree walk by the SUNY New Paltz Tree Committee! The guide provides information on the benefits of campus trees, such as providing shade, habitat for wildlife, and mitigating climate change by absorbing carbon emissions. It includes instructions on how to identify different tree species based on leaf characteristics and provides a map with 25 labeled trees along the walking route. Another all-levels arrow in the quiver for Appalachian recreation is coming to West Virginia. West Virginia University’s Brad and Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative (Smith OEDC) has been at the forefront and directly supporting many of these efforts. For this upcoming project just outside the small town of Elkins, the Smith OEDC teamed up with local org Elkins Area Shared Trails and the Monongahela National Forest to apply for IMBA’s Trail Accelerator Grant for this ambitious concept plan for the area. The grant was awarded and site planning/field design were completed this year! A 100-mile concept plan is slated for the region and 15 miles of trails have been flagged by IMBA Trail Solutions. Years ago, I was opposed to staging for houses. I thought that it was a waste of money. Now I realize it is a differentiating factor. Stating a house allows people to see themselves there. People need to envision what it’s like to wake up turn off their alarm, brush their teeth, eat breakfast watch the Super Bowl. Are you in real estate? We create training resources to build community capacity. 9. We collect data and we share it with others. 10. We constantly review and evaluate the impact of our activities. With support from ORLP, the city is implementing community-driven upgrades, providing a safe and welcoming space to gather and connect.
