Imagine creating something so Iconic, that it becomes a city’s identity. Imagine creating architecture that can capture the imagination of millions of people around the world. IM Pei was one of the most famous and celebrated architects of his time. But did you know he developed weapons for the United States during World War II? Or that his firm had such a huge disaster that they did not build anything in the US for 7 whole years? Even the famous Louvre Pyramid, turned the entire city against him. This is one of the most interesting tales you have ever heard. DO checkout my latest documentary on the life & designs of I M Pei https://lnkd.in/gy9U2gPi

In a significant development, the proposal for a modernist reconstruction of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris has been rejected. The advocates for the modernist approach were envisioning a glass spire and a partial redesign of the vaultings. However, the decision has been made to restore the cathedral to its original state, preserving its historical integrity. This decision underscores the importance of maintaining our architectural heritage and respecting the cultural significance of such landmarks. #NotreDame #CulturalHeritage #ArchitecturalConservation

Join us on Monday, November 4 for Architecture and Activism: Axel Timm. The practice of our collective raumlaborberlin refers very much to Lefebvre´s quote “Space is a product of (social) interaction." Thus our approach to the city and towards architecture is not the built space or the building of space in particular but rather the conception, the perception – the inhabiting of it. Within our approach with a focus on public or semi public space - we work at the intersection of architecture, city planning, art and urban intervention. In our work we address the city and urban renewal as a process connected to preferably all users of those spaces. For more event information: https://myumi.ch/egqGn

The power of collective action in public spaces through groundbreaking presentations is now available on T:>Digital. In the "Errare Humanum Est (To Err is Human)" presentation by Etcétera during Per°Form Open Academy earlier this year, this multidisciplinary collective—led by Loreto Garín Guzmán and Federico Zukerfeld—unfolded their philosophy of 'errorism.' Discover how they harness public space for participatory performances that challenge societal norms, sparking dialogue and encouraging collective expression. As for m7red in their recent Artistic Directors Academy Public Lecture, Urban (Re)Development, this architectural collective from Buenos Aires explored how a network of socially engaged architects and planners reclaims urban spaces. Through their collaboration with under-represented communities, they revealed how public spaces can become sites of resistance and transformation, addressing the complex realities of post-globalized cities. —— T:>Digital is T:>Works’ exclusive digital library, a curated collection of hybrid and digital creations that pushes the boundaries of transdisciplinary and transcultural research and innovative performance in the digital age.
