What is a bomb cyclone? Answer: A bomb cyclone, also known as bombogenesis, is a fast-developing storm that occurs when atmospheric pressure drops at least 24 millibars over a 24-hour period, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration notes online. The (current system off the west coast) central pressure has dropped from roughly 1000 mb to 942 mb in one day, far exceeding the threshold required for a ‘bomb cyclone’, Please be safe. Bomb cyclones can experience higher wind speeds from a tropical storm level to a Category 1 Hurricane.
Both a "Bomb Cyclone" and an "Atmospheric River" will hit the west coast. We've heard of Atmospheric Rivers but what is a Bomb Cyclone?

Ecosystem is a complex network or metasystem of interacting biological systems and the inanimate physical systems that form the environment. The balance between many different complex systems, each trying to sustain or increase their complexity, either actively or passively. Being an umbrella term, it can refer to specific regions in nature, or the entire Earth system, all of which is interconnected in some capacity.

Check out this thought-provoking blog post discussing the intersection of politics and space exploration. The article touches on how Mars has become a central topic of political debate. It's an interesting take on the impact of political factors on scientific endeavors. Read the full post here: [Mars is now a political football](https://ift.tt/JBFZabN)

Earlier this week I presented a webinar on The Marine Debris Monitoring and Assessment Project through NOAA Libraries. Check it out on YouTube. https://lnkd.in/gbrEhB6R MDMAP engages NOAA partners and volunteers around the world to survey and record the amount and types of marine debris on shorelines. MDMAP aims to detect changes in the amount and type of marine debris, guide and evaluate prevention of marine debris, inspiring action, and to provide tools to partners to contribute and meet their own goals. Since the launch of MDMAP in 2012, NOAA has invested in evaluating and improving MDMAP for greater impact with an emphasis on reducing barriers to participation. This talk will explore how MDMAP navigates trade-offs in standardization and flexibility, ease of participation and rigor, and data quantity and quality.
