Curious about what led me to pursue Neuroscience? Here's my story... Growing up, I have always want to be a medical doctor and was fascinated by how the human body functions never did I know that it was a complex system of interwoven processes that keeps us alive. But it wasn’t until my undergraduate studies that I truly discovered my passion for Anatomy and Neuroscience. During my BSc project, I explored the "Effect of Treadmill Exercise on Aluminum Chloride-Induced Alzheimer’s Disease in the Cerebral Cortex of Adult Wistar Rats." That experience taught me how powerful research can be in uncovering solutions to real world problems. Today, as I prepare for my MSc and PhD studies, I am eager to continue exploring the mysteries of the brain, particularly in Finland, a hub for cutting edge research. My dream is to contribute to neuroscience through research, teaching, and mentoring others. This journey has been challenging, but every step reaffirmed my belief in the importance of curiosity and hard work. 📌 What inspired you to choose your career path? I’d love to hear your journey! #Anatomy #Neuroscience #HumanBody #ResearchJourney #STEMEducation #ScholarshipGoals #FinlandResearch #AcademicLife #BrainResearch #FutureScientist

In neuroscience research, we're becoming better and better at collecting large-multidimensional brain activity and behavioural data. But here’s a thought: without the right tools to understand what all this information means, these amazing brain activity and behaviour maps might just end up as cool-looking art. As a result, the gap between basic and translational neuroscience is increasing very fast. What we really need are robust statistical tools that help us test ideas and make discoveries that can change lives. Without these tools, all this data won't help us as much as it could. Let’s not just make brain data pretty—let’s make it useful. What do you think? #neuroscience #innovation #research

🔈 Announcement: iBehave Lecture 🧠 We're excited to announce an upcoming seminar featuring Prof. Dr. Tiago Branco, Professor of Neuroscience and Behaviour at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour, UCL 🗣 Speaker: Prof. Dr. Tiago Branco 📚 Title: 'Strategies and Neural Mechanisms for Navigating to Shelter during Escape' 🎓 Host: Prof. Dr. Tobias Rose, Institute for Experimental Epileptology and Cognition Research, University Clinic Bonn, The University of Bonn 📅 Date and Time: Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 2 pm 🏛 On-site Location: Room C083.EG266, Department of Epileptology, Venusberg-Campus 1, Building C83, 53127 Bonn Join us for a fascinating discussion as Prof. Dr. Branco delves into the intricate strategies and neural mechanisms employed by animals when faced with potential threats, focusing on how they navigate to shelter during escape. 📝 Abstract: When faced with potential predators, animals instinctively decide whether there is a threat they should escape from, and also when, how, and where to take evasive action. While escape is often viewed in classical ethology as an action that is released upon presentation of specific stimuli, successful and adaptive escape behavior relies on integrating information from sensory systems, stored knowledge, and internal states. Prof. Dr. Branco will discuss the strategies that mice use to navigate to shelter during threat, how they learn efficient escape routes, and how these processes are computed at the synaptic and neural circuit levels. 📩 For Zoom meeting details, please email ibehave@uni-bonn.de. Don't miss this opportunity to gain insights into cutting-edge neuroscience research! 🧠 #ibehave #neuroscience #seminar #research #networking

🔬🧠 Translational Neuroscience Takes a Leap! 🧠🔬 Introducing an unmissable review by Hans-Peter Lipp & David P. Wolfer that's reshaping our approach to translational neuroscience. 🌟 With 40 years under their belt, they unveil the intricate dance of interpreting animal movements to better understand human brain function. 🐁➡️🧑 Key Takeaways: 🐭👀 Sensory worlds differ vastly between species—what mice perceive isn't what we do! 🧠 Comparing brains? It's not apples to apples. Mice and humans have fundamentally different cognitive landscapes. 🕵️♂️ Misinterpreting animal behavior? A major pitfall in bridging the gap from lab to clinic. 🧩 They propose a revolutionary view: our brain's primary role is to produce patterned movements—everything else, including cognition and emotion, is secondary. 🔗 Why This Matters: This review doesn't just critique; it guides. It's a call to rethink our experimental strategies, ensuring our research translates more effectively from mice to men. 🌉 🎓 For scientists, clinicians, and anyone intrigued by the brain's mysteries, this work is a beacon in the foggy journey of translational research. 🚀 Let's champion a future where mental health solutions are not just a hope but a reality. 💡🔬 #TranslationalNeuroscience #BrainResearch #MentalHealthInnovation #ScienceCommunication #Neuroethology #CognitiveScience #LippAndWolfer 🌍✨
