Online safety is crucial for families to protect personal information, maintain privacy, and avoid cyber threats affecting both kids and adults. With so much time spent on digital devices, risks like identity theft, cyberbullying, and inappropriate content are real concerns. Practicing strong cyber hygiene, using unique passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and teaching kids about online privacy helps create a secure environment. Does online content moderation really moderate? In its haste to catch up with technology, the law often incorporates new expressions, crystalizing their meaning. What consequences might this entail? Fresh off the press, my contribution 'Reclaiming Moderation: Towards a Model of Moderated Counterspeech in the Digital Public Sphere' to the 'Handbook on Cyber Hate - The Modern Cyber Evil' discusses the meaning of #moderation, the adjudicatory nature of OCM, and the possibility of a more involved model of 'moderation' in the online world. My thanks to Anne Wagner and Sarah Marusek for editing this important and timely volume. https://lnkd.in/gYutGijB

Defenders, if anyone in your executive team suggests that you stop applying automatic security updates as a result of this week’s issues, please direct them to this post telling them that is a bad idea. The time to exploitation has never been shorter and will never get longer again. Now is not the time to slow security down further. These were issues of quality, not speed. Modern security is barely keeping up most places, if it is keeping up at all. As an industry and as practitioners we must deliver quality at speed if we hope to have a chance in what is already an asymmetrical battle. #SpeedUpSecurity #KneeJerkPolicyBad #CatchUpAndKeepUp
