Happy to share our research work at the 8th EURASPHALT & EUROBITUME CONGRESS RESILIENCE - SUSTAINABILITY – INNOVATION, Budapest, Hungary. Wim van der Goes will present our paper “PAN FIBRES AS AN ALTERNATIVE FOR POLYMERS IN POROUS ASPHALT”. He will discuss the advantages of the addition of polyacrylonitrile fibres in Porous Asphalt 8 (PA 8) with pen grade bitumen 70/100 in comparison with the use of PmB. The most important benefits of PA 8 with pen grade bitumen 70/100 and polyacrylonitrile fibres in comparison with PA 8 with PmB are: - a 4 year longer lifespan - 38% lower environmental impact - fewer emissions during the production and laying process - lower production temperature, which saves energy. You hear all about it in Session 8: Asphalt mixture modification on Thursday from 14.00 – 15.30 h on 20.6.2024.

Exciting News! 🎉we are thrilled☺️ to announce that the Biolamer Project funded by EIC Pathfinder Open has won🏆 the poster competition at the 10th edition of the “TRAIAN VUIA” International Exhibition of Inventions and Innovations” which took place at the Administrative Palace of the Timis County Council from June 13-15,2024🗓️. Proud to showcase our innovative project on the European Stage through a poster titled “The BioLaMer route to address food waste and petrochemical plastic challenges”. Thanks to our team members from Trinity College Dublin and SocLine Tech for communicating the project through this poster. Key features of BioLaMer; ✨Focuses on transforming low-grade food waste into biodegradable biopolymers🧪 such as Chitosan and Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) and value-added bioplastics. ✨Utilizing larvae🐛as renewable feedstock, significantly reduces production cost💰 associated with the pre-treatment cost for biopolymer production from other resources such as food waste and promotes biodiversity. ✨Mitigate food waste-related environmental and health risks and petroleum-based plastic pollution, and paves way for a sustainable future♻️.
