Not many know my story.. but.. Looking back on where I started and where I am today, I’m filled with a deep sense of gratitude and pride. My career began in janitorial work—humble beginnings that taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and attention to detail. These foundational lessons became the bedrock of my approach to every role I’ve taken on. I would even challenge my self to clean even better than before! As I transitioned into purchasing, I discovered a passion for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships. Each step was a new challenge, but it also brought new opportunities to learn and grow. My journey has taught me that no role is too small to prepare you for your future. Every step, every challenge, and every lesson learned has shaped who I am today. Here’s to embracing the journey, staying dedicated, and always striving for more! 🚀 Shake a hand with your janitorial crew.. they might be the next negotiator. #CareerJourney #Procurement #GrowthMindset #HardWork #Determination

When you send a message to anyone on linkedin whom you think can help you get a new job, you don’t have to present your challenges as part of your strong points to your potential employer. If you are a business development professional, state what strategies you will apply when hired to win new businesses & enhance client retention. If you are an executive assistant, indicate how well your interpersonal skills & documentation handling savvy will enhance departmental coordination & ease the transmission of relevant documents. If you are a procurement executive, showcase practically what measures you will put in place to source & deliver goods & materials within a short time frame. You don’t need a job because you have problems. You deserve a job based on the value you will bring on board. # Sell yourself professionally & not personally

Manic morning.... Now back at my desk and on with jobs. I happen to be working on these jobs. (More to come........) Only 10% of the roles we have on at present are hybrid. This does change from week to week, but it's a true reflection of what is happening locally. I thought it would be interesting to point out. (I get lots of requests for hybrid, but at the min, I'm not able to offer this much of the time) Further updates to follow when I catch up 😁 #recruitment #skipton #fortempeople #thefreshapproach

Job titles in Procurement - how important are they? In my opinion, not much at all. This is a question I often get asked, particularly when a candidate is assessing a new role. I work with hundreds of different clients across broad sectors and they all use industry specific language and titles. This should not put you off applying for a role. I find the level of seniority and remuneration offered in a role is generally reflected in how critical the role is to the organisation, what it is accountable for and what it is required to deliver. These are the key questions you really should be asking yourself when considering a new role. This information will help you make the most informed decisions that will help steer your career in the right direction. #jobtitles #career #procurement

🔄 Making a Lateral Move into Procurement: Insights for Career Switchers 🔄 Switching into procurement from another function like engineering, sales, or even research can seem intimidating—but it’s more common and advantageous than you might think. Bringing existing expertise from a different department can be a huge asset to procurement teams. For example, engineers often transition smoothly into procurement because their technical knowledge makes them invaluable when working closely with suppliers on complex projects. On the other hand, sales professionals bring strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, giving them an edge in supplier relationships and internal collaboration. What’s the common thread? Whether your background is in sales, engineering, finance, or another area, your unique skills and fresh perspective can help you succeed in procurement and offer a new approach to problem-solving. Procurement is a broad field that can benefit greatly from different ways of thinking and diverse experiences. Thinking about making a lateral move into procurement? Here are a few key tips: 1️⃣ Leverage your existing expertise—your background is a powerful asset. 2️⃣ Embrace the learning curve—procurement touches many parts of the business, and the variety makes it exciting. 3️⃣ Build relationships—internally and externally, relationships are crucial in procurement. 4️⃣ Bring fresh perspectives—your unique insights can challenge the status quo and drive improvement. If you’re open to learning and ready to bring your skills to a new field, a move into procurement could be one of the best decisions of your career. I’ll be sharing more insights like this in my new YouTube series on careers in procurement as part of my Procurement in the Park channel. Stay tuned! I have posted a link to the video in the comments down below. #ProcurementCareers #LateralMove #CareerSwitch #SupplyChain #ProcurementInThePark #CareerAdvice #ProcurementSkills
