💉 For developing POC diagnostic tests using a paper-strip platform, researchers and innovators have already explored various methods of plasma separation. - To optimize the best technique for separating blood plasma, our goal is to establish a simple, disruptive method for plasma separation on filter paper without relying on membrane-based processes. - This method focuses on agglutinating or deforming RBCs so they cluster and cannot pass through the porous matrix. We have experimented with various reagents, including CaCl2, NaCl, and blood typing agents. - The motivation behind this work is to create a low-cost, point-of-care test for plasma-based analyte detection. - The initial experiments have shown promising results, though there's still work to be done on improving repeatability, and the quantity and quality of plasma separation.
