A great read from Harvard Business Review. “When done right, Al can not only improve short-term productivity of organizations but can also increase their long-term performance by expanding the space of opportunities the organization considers by supporting learning, increasing intellectual diversity, and enhancing organizational culture. That is, it can increase the organization's collective intelligence. Companies should focus on three elements of collective intelligence: collective memory, collective attention, and collective reasoning.”

We need humane leadership more than ever. I recently watched an insightful discussion with Dr Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic about how AI is changing the way we work and how we will work in the future. Many discussions around Generative AI focus purely on the technology and lofty outcomes that haven’t quite materialized yet. What’s often missing from the conversation is the human interaction with these tools – how we can best leverage them and prepare to change how we work and run organizations. Here are a few key points I took away: • 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 ➡️ “It really is redefining expertise because if something can be automated and produced by a machine, our expertise is whatever additional value or unique insight we can provide that isn’t produced by a machine, or our ability to find errors in those insights.” • 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 ➡️ “Technology and productivity have the same definition – to do more with less or the same with less – both are about efficiency. And efficiency is deeply dehumanizing. Even when you pre-order your coffee at Starbucks because you want it ready when you arrive, and the barista says, ‘Hi Amy, how are you?’ you might think, ‘Why are you wasting my time?’” • 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 ➡️ “Everyone is saying that reskilling and upskilling are important since generative AI took off two years ago, but I haven’t seen learning and development budgets triple or double; they remain the same.” Check out the video for more insights on AI and the future of work: https://lnkd.in/ePEWfzeJ
