Building on the success of last year, this renewed collaboration will see West Scotland further support Killie Community’s important work across #Ayrshire. A key focus of the partnership is the "Off The Bench" programme, launching this month at The Killie Community Hub. This initiative will offer individuals a pathway to employability through workshops, trade talks, and exclusive insights from Persimmon experts, inspiring future careers in construction. 🛠️ Persimmon will also support the prestigious Killie Community Hero Award, recognising outstanding local contributions. From the Boldrewood Innovation Campus, a hub for pioneering science and life sciences research, to enhanced sports facilities at the Jubilee Sports Centre on the Highfield Campus, our work reflects a shared commitment to creating sustainable, state-of-the-art spaces that empower students, researchers, and the wider community to thrive. Across each project, we have worked to employ local people and support charities. One example is our work with Southampton Sight, a small independent charity. 🔍Where are the “bright spots” and gaps in #PlaceBased #funding? While London and the Northwest see a high concentration of projects, regions like the East of England, East Midlands, and Northern Ireland attract significantly less investment in this work. 💡 Key Insight: It is important to address the issue of regional disparities and consider why these areas don’t attract funding for this type of work to the same extent. Perhaps some places have local charities that are better at making the case for funding? Or, does local political leadership and mayoral authorities make a difference to where funds are allocated by philanthropy? It all leads to the question, what can be done to make funding distribution more equitable across our diverse range of communities. Dublin City Council working with community fundraising platform Spacehive, has launched an exciting opportunity for local residents to fundraise and deliver projects that matter to them called 'Crowdfund Dublin City'. Dublin City Council has a fund of €300, 000, and is looking to invest in projects that will enhance green spaces, create colourful, vibrant and inclusive public spaces, or support sustainable communities and environmental initiatives. Through the fund, community groups, social enterprises, local charities and individuals with community support could potentially receive a pledge of up to 50% of their crowdfunding target, capped at €5000. The Spring 2025 round is now open with a deadline of Wednesday the 30th April to have projects fully costed, any relevant permissions in place and the project page created on Spacehive page.
