With the escalating impacts of climate change, planning law has an important role to play in mitigating risks and promoting sustainable development. The seminar will focus on key cases – including the landmark decision in the Supreme Court in Finch – and legal frameworks, such as the Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment regimes. Finally, the talk will address emerging challenges in bringing litigation in this area. Ruth Keating is a barrister with 39 Essex Chambers, with a particular interest in energy and construction disputes, commercial, environmental and public law.
