With healthcare governance in flux in many parts of the country, this article offers timely perspectives on experiences from other countries in terms of governance and accountability for integrated care.

Fascinating role being advertised here for any Senior Health/Science Policy Professionals in my network. For my Postgrads Learners, it’s also a fabulous example of the sorts of things you need to be able to demonstrate in high level recruitment processes like this, along with some specific requirements for working in UK Government too. Of particular note is the focus on the ‘B’ of the KSB’s (Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours) that UK Degree Apprentices (who have to gather evidence for their portfolio) know & love! This one being a ‘Leadership Behaviour’ about ‘being aware of the commercial drivers influencing the placement of research projects’ (so important to the role that they say they may actually screen for this Behaviour early on and first)! Another one of note is the need for Major Project Management/ Budgeting skills (again something Apprentices learn). Finally the intention to interview by video (something which requires very careful consideration of how you come across). Our Active Academic Partnership (AAP) with Keele University is looking closely at engagement – firstly with communities to get more people active and secondly with partners in the healthcare sector to encourage closer ways of working. Our Head of Business Operations, Jon Keating, has been speaking to Dr Kris Sorenson, a senior research fellow at Keele University, to explore more about our AAP and how it is shaping our Pivot to Active Wellbeing. So, are there any quick wins?

DRI has been involved with the Pan-Sussex Diversity in Research Engagement Network (REN) since its launch in October 2023, engaging with minoritised groups to capture their perspectives and incorporate them into research findings. This project is a collaboration between NHS Sussex, Brighton and Sussex Health Research Partnership, VCSEs, National Institute for Health and Care South East Research Delivery Research Network (NIHR SE RRDN) and other key partners. Earlier this year, the report for a community research project ("Engaging Marginalised Communities") was published.
