"We will share an optimistic view of the future" We like this phrase from Solarpunk Cities Vision: "Seeing the challenges humanity is facing today, we felt it was time to dedicate energy and experience to the Solarpunk movement. We will share an optimistic view of the future and demonstrate that Solarpunk is not only visionary but has already been gaining traction. Based on our professional background, we understand technology and truly believe in its potential to address today’s issues and pave the way for a sustainable future for all beings on this planet." Solarpunk is a world where nature and technology coexist, we don’t waste, renewable energy is the only energy, and we have spaces meant for us to hang out that don’t put toxins in the air or charge us money. Solarpunk is a movement that envisions that. It helps us to imagine a future where humanity has reintroduced regenerative practices and symbiotic technologies. My first introduction to solarpunk was learning about cyberpunk and steampunk years ago in college. There, I encountered an intersection of storytelling, arts, and culture that gave me a futuristic way to see myself. I have often found that people who don't come directly from any environmental background or expertise find themselves entering a new wave of environmentalism through cultural narratives and shifting dominant narratives that often don't serve people who are trying to learn in different ways. I recently made a YouTube video on Solarpunk, and you should watch it below! https://lnkd.in/gHx-c_ZB #solarpunk #media #genz #genzmarketing

🌞Energy 101: What is Solarpunk? 🌱 Solarpunk envisions a future where humanity and nature thrive together through renewable energy, community, and justice. This genre of speculative fiction blends optimism with real-world change, seeing clean energy, environmental health, and personal freedom as interconnected. Solarpunk emphasizes that we can’t have one without the others! 🎸 Why "Punk"? The "punk" in solarpunk reflects a rebellious spirit, inspired by past punk movements that resisted social norms. Like British punk in the 70s, solarpunk resists today’s reliance on fossil fuels and imagines a world built by people, not corporations. 🏙️ Real Solarpunk Cities From Singapore to Copenhagen, cities worldwide are embracing solarpunk values, creating eco-friendly spaces and green tech solutions that bring this vision to life. These cities show that our solarpunk dreams can be real. Stay tuned for a deep dive on solarpunk projects happening today! 🌍 Join the Movement! Imagine a future where communities collaborate, and our planet thrives—then, let’s work to make it happen! Ever heard of cyberpunk? Yeah, basically the opposite of that 👾 Solarpunk is an artistic and literary movement that envisions working towards or achieving a sustainable future, using science and technology as appropriate to help humanity and the planet 🔬 It's important, when we think about the future, that we don't just think about what could go wrong - we also need a plan for what going right could look like! That's where movements like solarpunk (or hopepunk) come in 🌱 Do you feel optimistic when you think about the future? In the short term? In the long term? ☀️ Who or what in your current community gives your hope? What do you think your neighbourhood could look like in a more sustainable - or even a utopian - future? 🌻 It's good to let your imagination run wild sometimes! Let us know you thoughts in the comments ⬇️ Here's to all the amazing groups on the Resilience Web working to help us imagine a tomorrow that's better than today, especially Climate Museum UK who (along with Norwich Eco Hub) have worked on the Possitopia project that inspired this week's #SunggestionBox 🌳 Shout-out also to: Cambridge Curiosity and Imagination Reach Community Solar Farm York Community Energy... and to be honest, I could have listed just about every group on the Web! 💚 #resilienceweb #community #communityresilience #norfolk #norwich #norwichresilienceweb #climatejustice #socialjustice #solarpunk #hopepunk #scifi #sustainable #possitopia #utopia

10 Ways to Thoroughly Solar Punk Society by Emil Ejner Friis Excerpt from this article: "As authoritarianism will seem more appealing, democracy will continue to recede across the world and islands of “gated community” solarpunk-ish cities like Singapore and Dubai will win the hearts and minds of the world’s population. But, if solarpunk is employed in tandem with processes of deepening democracy, more in line with its original ethos, it can scaffold and guide the steps of transformations that are not just aesthetically superficial, but ones that will reshape the social structure, human relations, and even our minds and emotions." I'm excited to share insights from our recent exploration at XR HACK, where we delved into integrating Mixed Reality with AI in NatureTech. This innovative integration offers substantial improvements in tree management and inventory processes. Our AI-driven camera technology, integrated into the MetaQuest 3 headset, identifies each tree type. Using the MR UI developed in Unity, we measure the tree's Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) and height. The system then calculates the Above Ground Biomass and estimates the carbon sequestered by each tree. This advanced capability has the potential to revolutionize how Family Forest Owners manage their forests, making practices more efficient, precise, and sustainable. Moreover, this approach promises to enhance monitoring processes for carbon offset programs, providing a more accurate alternative to current methods that primarily rely on remote sensing images. There's significant potential for this technology to be used on carbon credit platforms, specifically targeting small forest owners for enhanced monitoring purposes. Collaborating with a diverse team at the event was an incredible experience. I am grateful to all teammates Bilal Ahmad, Zumeng Liu, Dzhamal Alanov, 杜政浩 (congee) and organizers PwC Innovate UK Meta ShapesXR who contributed to this project. This innovative solution could spark significant interest among carbon offset stakeholders - CarbonPlan Renoster Treeconomy South Pole Open Forest Protocol Pachama American Forest Foundation Verra Rubicon Carbon EarthCode BeZero Carbon Carbon13 Carbon Pulse seeking cutting-edge monitoring solutions. For a quick overview of our transformative project, check out this 1-minute video detailing our journey and the technology developed: https://lnkd.in/eKZTivbg. Take a moment to really look at this Video in detail. It’s more than just a beautiful animation—it’s a vision of what our future could be. Picture this: 🌾 Lush green landscapes thriving alongside advanced cities ⚡ Clean energy powering communities in harmony with nature. 🤝 Humans and technology working together, not against each other. For so long, the story of the future has been painted as dark and dystopian: Machines replacing us. Nature disappearing humanity losing its way. But what if we rewrote that story? What if the future wasn’t about survival but about thriving? This image offers a glimpse of what’s possible when we imagine a world where: • Technology amplifies humanity instead of overshadowing it • Progress works hand in hand with sustainability • Innovation serves both people and the planet Creating this future isn’t a far-off dream—it’s something we can start building today So here’s my question: How can we design a world where technology, nature, and humanity don’t just coexist but elevate one another? Me and our team at AYYA - AI Advisory would love to hear your thoughts 💜 If this resonates with you, pls share it to inspire others. The future we want starts with the ideas we nurture today #FutureThinking #Innovation #Sustainability #Technology #solarpunk
