Starbucks, Minecraft, and other big apps went offline this week because Microsoft’s system went down, cutting off their identity provider. But this didn’t have to happen. There's already a way to ensure 100% identity uptime. The issue is that many organizations don’t prioritize problems that haven’t happened yet due to internal politics and limited budgets. The vast majority of IAM leaders prefer to fix issues before they break. Hopefully, this outage is a wake up call, pushing companies to have those uncomfortable yet necessary conversations and put solutions in place to prevent future outages. Check out the article on Starbucks going down - https://lnkd.in/dEND3eUq Learn how to avoid this happening again - https://lnkd.in/deEYF8ij #IdentityContinuity #DisasterRecovery #Downtimeisoptional

How were they doing API Management? 🤔 😱 "In the instance, where a public API endpoint did not require authentication, anyone on the internet with knowledge of that endpoint [URL] could use it."(1) …Optus announced it had been the subject of a massive data breach with as many as 10 million customer accounts exposed…(1) "A Peloton API endpoint that is used to provide details about workout classes was not enforcing authentication. Any user with Internet access could query the API and obtain private Peloton user information including user ID, location, workout statistics, gender, age and more." 😱 😱 (2) If they were doing API Management, they were missing out one key benefits from APIOps that is -> Continuous Security Integration. What other benefits do you know from APIOps? (1) Butler, J. (2022, September 29). Optus data breach: everything we know so far about what happened. The Guardian. Would love your participation and thoughts on our #GroundZero #Huddle topic "Why Hawcx over Myriads of Passkey solutions out there ?"
Founder & CEO | Building Post Quantum Passwordless Authentication | Mom | Culture Transformer | Board Advisor
Every morning, we gather as a team to discuss priorities and blockers for the day—what we call the Ground Zero Huddle. Today, our caffeine-fueled and intensely debating team dove into the question: “Why Hawcx over the myriad of passkey solutions out there?” I thought it would be interesting to share what we found to be pretty cool. 1. No Device Constraints: All passkey solutions tie you to specific devices and can be a challenge when switching between them. At Hawcx, we avoid these issues by not storing private keys. Also, our approach of using userid + device fingerprinting allows you to have multiple public-private keys per user. This means you can seamlessly switch devices or recover from a lost phone without any disruption—like having a universal remote for your digital life. 2. Effortless Integration: Setting up passkey systems can often feel cumbersome, much like assembling IKEA furniture. Hawcx offers a smooth and straightforward integration process. No complicated steps— 5 lines of code for the developer to integrate Hawcx and no changes on the end-user side to use it. 3. No Platform Dependency: Unlike passkeys that are tied to specific platforms or big tech ecosystems, Hawcx operates independently of such constraints. Remember, we don’t store private keys. We offer a flexible and open solution that doesn’t rely on any particular platform or operating system. This means you get the freedom to use Hawcx across different environments without being tied down What’s Next? We’re preparing to launch Hawcx Self-Serve for Android apps soon, with plans to extend to iOS and browser logins. This evolution brings us closer to a passwordless future, eliminating the usual hassles and complexities. Request an invite to our closed beta at www.hawcx.com #Passwordless #Authentication #Cybersecurity #Startup #DigitalIdentity #TechTrends #DevCommunity #SoftwareDevelopment #UserExperience Hawcx Selva Kumaraswamy Lakshmi Sharma Have you faced challenges as a user setting up and using passkeys?

[This Wednesday, 12/11] Our next talent preview for RC's virtual Demo Day- Meet Brandi N.: "I’m motivated to solve problems that put users at the heart of the solution. In my previous role as a UX designer in cybersecurity, I led stakeholder interviews, created low-fi and hi-fi designs, and collaborated with teams to implement key features within the IBM cybersecurity portfolio. I conducted a competitive audit to uncover market opportunities and prioritized accessibility by ensuring WCAG compliance, driving the development of inclusive products. This experience has given me a deep understanding of user needs, which informs my work as a software engineer. By bridging the gap between design and development, I ensure every feature aligns with user goals, creating high-quality, secure, and accessible solutions. If your team values innovation and user-centered products, I’d love to connect." Meet Brandi N. at our virtual Demo Day on Wednesday to learn more about GhostAudit, her user-friendly consumer privacy audit tool. It ensures social-media-based digital protection by scanning for and providing active recommendations on protecting your digital identity. Happy Holidays and holy crab walk, folks! Is Hummer trying to pull a 2002 brand throwback with the H2, except this time slapping an electric motor in it and calling it a day? Sure, we’ve all seen the commercials...it’s cool, no doubt. But are you really buying an EV based on a commercial to make snow angels with your pals? I mean, it’s fun, but shouldn’t a real EV offer more than a single flashy trick? Maybe the LeBron James endorsement will seal the deal for you… because why not? Honestly, it’s like a firewall or URL filtering company (founded circa 2006) trying to jump into the SASE/SSE game. Sure, they’ve got the basics...tires, windows, mirrors, airbags, CD Player ;) and maybe an electric motor (metaphorically speaking) to check the boxes. But where’s the real value? Do they offer best-in-class data protection, scalable DLP, threat prevention beyond a single U.S. data center, SSL decryption at scale, total visibility, local services in places like China, and consistent performance for all users...without sneaky surcharges? I don't think so. Instead, they’re out there hiring celebrities like Keanu Reeves (and La Bron James) to make it look cool. And guess who’s stuck with the bill? That’s right, you. Enter Netskope One: no gimmicks, no fluff, no surcharges, no celebrities ($$ spent on R&D instead), just fresh, modern protection. Bottom line...We cover your SaaS ;)..because performance shouldn’t come with a celebrity price tag. :) https://lnkd.in/gY_Hhjh4 #netskope #paloaltonetworks #zscaler #catonetworks #cloudflare #DSPM
