Can we expect this trend to continue? Is it reflective of the Phoenix and Tucson new home markets? Is it true across all of the geographic submarkets in the local area? Does it vary from geo area to geo area? Is it a statistic that every homebuilder in the region should know about the market area of every one of his subdivisions or his land inventory or his future land or lot buys? Take a look at this chart, which shows the average size of a new single-family home. The average size hasn't been this small since before 2011, which isn't surprising given the current affordability challenges. Speaking of smaller homes, check out the size of the homes Lennar is selling in its Elm Trails community in San Antonio (see link in comments below).
