What do riding a bike and changing a business have in common? As co-founder Shefali Salwan writes in a recent Forbes article, overcoming her fear of falling off a bike with the help of Scott Peltin provided a process she's employed in business and personal life. The most surprising part of his advice: Start by stopping. Read the article to understand how. #transformation #change #FearofFailing

This is 19-year-old James. 20.5 years ago! I was talking to friends at Ideas Fest; we were talking about why we do what we do. This is 19-year-old James having just completed the London (Flora) marathon. I can't remember who suggested/recommended for me to apply to run the marathon, probably my step-father, Tim, who also ran (in a much better time than me, he trained hard). When talking to friends last week I mentioned that my brother had died when I was 17 years old. Kevin was 18 years old and died instantly during a car accident (we were about 11 months a part). I've learnt so much about myself and the world from that experience, but at that time, I was in pain, as of course was my family. I struggled with suicidal ideation. I cried a lot. I struggled with understanding and controlling my emotions. I didn't achieve particularly well in school, I was actually training to become a Royal Marine Camando when I was 16/17, but this changed everything and so I felt completely lost. And so, I was fortunate enough to get through the ballot to the London Marathon. I started to feel a sense of self-worth due to the training I was committing myself to. I felt that I had achieved something. So why did this come up the other day? Well, I really can't remember why I become a Social Worker, I made that decision about 16 years ago and qualified over 12 years ago and sometimes something just feels right. Now though...why do I still do what I do now?? Why not change to do something else? Why persevere with coaching and being someone's thinking partner? Because I believe that our minds are inherently creative. I believe that our beliefs can change if we're willing to open ourselves up the possibility. We create the world through our internal meaning. Our internal beliefs. Our beliefs can change, and when they do, our world changes. It's the reason I named my business Always Potential. Because there's always potential for sh*t, but there's always potential for greatness too. It's how you respond. It's how you decide to put in the work. It's how you decide to embrace the journey, that really makes the difference.

In little time, I went from thinking that running once a week was a lot, to running twice a day and completing a half marathon as a casual Sunday training run 🤣 When I started working with my business coach and learned how to do business properly, I realised that I didn't HAVE to kill myself to have a business that is profitable and impactful. In fact, if I were doing things strategically, I could achieve a successful business while still living a spacious and restful life. Based on my circles of inspiring business friends, I started to see that making 6-7 figures didn't have to be a lofty dream, it could be a normal reality. And as my perception of 'normal' started to change, so did my actions, which led to new results and a new life. Depending on your environment, your journey toward your goals will either be a constant grind or an effortless process. That's why there is such an emphasis on the intimate sisterhood in Life of Legacy. Whether it's in the bi-monthly live calls for ongoing sisterhood growth and accountability, content discussion and practice, Q&A, and hot seat coaching, or the group slack channel so you always have a support team by your side, you'll never be alone. You'll never have to wait to have your questions answered, and you will always be able to instantly implement the next steps in your business for continuous progress. Are you ready to say YES to yourself and your business this year? We have five months left and A LOT can happen in that time. However, if nothing changes, then nothing changes. Have you ever heard the phase: "slow down to speed up"? I've had mentors encouraging me to do this for years, but it seems so counter-intuitive, I dismissed and resisted the idea. You probably do too. But its the foundation to continued performance by many world-class athletes and entrepreneurs. Want to learn how to implement this into your life? See below.

🌟 7 Lessons from Steven Bartlett's Speech at South Summit 🌟 Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending Steven Bartlett's speech at #SouthSummit. The depth of his entrepreneurial insights truly resonated with me. Here are my key takeaways: 1. We Glamourised Starting - for me, soooo true! In the current startup culture, we often glamourize starting something new, but to start, there’s something you need to quit. Steven even shared a framework for quitting: 👉 You quit because it’s hard or it sucks, so you need to assess: is the reward worth the pain? can the effort actually change the situation? If the answer is no, invest your energy somewhere else. 💡 2. Embrace Critical Thinking He always asks my team, "Why is this idea going to fail?" This mindset helps us focus on potential pitfalls and areas for improvement, leading to stronger, more resilient ideas. 🧠 3 Focus on Small Steps Finding one thing that moves you 100 steps forward is far harder than chasing 100 things that each bring you one step ahead. On this one, I need to work on 😅 Focus on testing and discovering these small steps to make consistent progress. 🔍 4. Have Your Non-Negotiables Managing emotions is crucial in companies. Anger and negativity can cause significant damage, especially with your team. For Steven, sleep and workouts are non-negotiables. He even canceled an event in Dubai to ensure he didn't compromise on these essentials. 🏋️♂️😴 5. Celebrate Small Wins Reflecting on our best days, it's often the progress and small wins that boost team morale and drive. I went through this huge mindset shift myself some months ago. You cannot always have big wins. 🎉 At Avea Life we celebrate small wins every friday and I love it. 6. First Principles Thinking Applying first principles thinking involves breaking down complex problems into their fundamental truths and building up from there. 🏗️ Always ask if your idea makes life easier or cheaper for your client. Here I will create a framework to improve our creative brainstorming :)Irene Marchese Shaniece Parker Fatima Malkic :) 7. Do you really need a Mentor or a Coach? Surprisingly, Steven mentioned that mentors can sometimes be an excuse for inaction. With the internet at our fingertips, we can find answers and learn independently. 💻 As someone obsessed with both, I found it quite surprising but of course and I still find incredible benefits in having both but I understand his point. You don't need one to start. What do you think about these lessons? I am very curious to know if you also apply them into your lives or your have a different experience Besos from Madrid.

Such a simple quote, yet such a powerful message. One that has stuck with me, and is honestly something I live by. Often times we are so worried about what others will think or worry about the possibility of failing, that we don’t bother trying at all. Adopting this mindset gave me the confidence to start my business and reminded me that taking risks is essential for growth. Everything is a learning experience and life is not just about the destination, but more about the journey you take to get there. So, if you “strike out”, your next hit could be a home run! Next time you are in doubt, remember, keep playing🏏. #motivation #quote #lifeofaceo #business

🌟 Finding Balance: A Quick update 🌟 Hey, wonderful tribe! 👋 It's been a little quiet on this side lately, hasn't it? 🤔 But I promise, it's all for a good reason! Over the past few months, I've been immersed in a certification course 📚 aimed at enhancing the services I offer through Perfectly Assisted. It's been an exhilarating journey, one filled with learning, growth, and a fair share of late-night study sessions! Admittedly, as I have delved deeper into the course material, I found myself torn between keeping up with social media and ensuring I gave my absolute best to each module. There were moments when the pressure mounted, and I felt a pang of guilt for not showing up here as often as I'd like. But then, a shift happened. I realized that true balance isn't about spreading ourselves thin across every facet of our lives. It's about prioritizing what truly matters, at any given moment. 🌟 And for me, that meant giving my undivided attention to honing my craft, enriching my skills, and ultimately, serving you, my incredible community, even better. 🙌 So, while my presence here may have been a tad scarce, please know that behind the scenes, I've been pouring my heart and soul into elevating our journey together. 💖 The finish line is in sight! 🏁 Next week, I'll be sitting for my certification exam, and I couldn't be more thrilled to put my knowledge to the test. Here's to growth, to progress, and to finding our own unique balance in this beautiful chaos we call life. #FindingBalance #CertificationJourney #OBM #EntrepreneurLife #WorkLifeBalance #LevelUp #Gratitude #Entrepreneurship #OBMCertification #OnTheJourney #ExamCountdown #BusinessGrowth #ProgressOverPerfection

Myron Golden once said, "Success is discovering your life's purpose, developing yourself for that purpose, and deploying yourself in that purpose." As Simon Sinek so beautifully put it in his book Start with Why, we must begin by identifying our purpose—the reason behind our actions and existence. Why are you here? This requires deep self-reflection—understanding your passions, values, strengths, and the impact you want to make in the world. It’s about uncovering your unique calling or mission—a purpose that gives your life meaning and direction. Without this clarity, success can feel hollow, even if you achieve external accomplishments. Once you’ve uncovered your purpose, the next step is preparation, which involves personal growth and acquiring the necessary skills, knowledge, and mindset to fulfill that unique assignment or personal mission in life. It’s about intentional effort and self-improvement—investing time and energy into becoming the best version of yourself so you can serve your purpose effectively. Preparation ensures you are equipped to handle the challenges and responsibilities that come with pursuing your mission. After preparing yourself, the final step is deployment, where purpose meets practice. Deployment is about putting yourself out there, taking risks, and actively contributing to the world through your unique gifts. Taking risks might mean starting a new venture, pursuing a creative passion, or stepping into a leadership role. Making an impact can range from mentoring others to initiating community projects or addressing larger societal challenges. Deployment is where you begin to live out your mission and make a meaningful difference, no matter how big or small.

"Self-worth and self-confidence aren't the same, and understanding the difference can transform your life." In Jamie Kern Lima's book "Worthy," she dives deep into the distinction between self-worth and self-confidence, and it's a game-changer for anyone looking to elevate their personal and professional life. As a Certified High Performance Coach, I see this confusion all the time, and it's crucial to get it right. Self-confidence is about believing in your abilities. It's what gets you to raise your hand in a meeting, pitch that big idea, or take on a new challenge. It's like a muscle you can build through practice, achievements, and positive feedback. Think of it as the fuel that powers your actions. Self-worth, on the other hand, is about believing in your inherent value as a person. It's not tied to your achievements, your job title, or how others perceive you. It's the foundation upon which self-confidence is built. Without a strong sense of self-worth, even the most confident person can feel like a house of cards, ready to crumble at the slightest setback. In "Worthy," Jamie Kern Lima emphasizes that self-worth is intrinsic. It's about recognizing that you are enough just as you are. This realization can be incredibly liberating and empowering. It allows you to take risks, face failures, and keep moving forward because your value isn't on the line. As someone who has navigated the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, finance, and personal challenges, I can attest that nurturing your self-worth is a continuous journey. It's about self-compassion, setting boundaries, and surrounding yourself with people who uplift you. So, how do you cultivate self-worth? Start by acknowledging your strengths and achievements, no matter how small. Practice self-care and self-compassion. Remember, your worth isn't determined by your productivity or success. It's inherent. Let's start a conversation: How do you differentiate between self-worth and self-confidence in your life? Drop a comment below or share this post if you found it insightful. Let's help each other grow and thrive! #SelfWorth #Confidence #Growth

3moLove the advice to start by stopping. When I was trying to learn to ski -- I'm not anymore, stopping was the scariest part of the endeavor and tended to overshadow everything else. Learning this first provides the confidence and control to get the most out of all that follows. Great advice, Shefali Salwan
