Defining Success: Impact and Growth Success, to me, goes beyond achievements—it's about impact and growth. Professionally, it's creating projects that challenge and resonate. It involves educating about living with disabilities and fostering inclusion. Personally, success means navigating each day with kindness and learning to show up for loved ones in the ways they need. It's multifaceted, touching on professional impact and personal growth. Inclusion tip from team member Lisa Drennan: Strengthen your disability inclusion initiative by getting your camp staff on board. 👍Organize collaborative planning sessions to engage their feedback - what is working well? Needs improvement? 👍Starting to use visual tools? Ask your staff for their input on design & how and when to introduce them. 👍Set up feedback channels via suggestion boxes, surveys and regular check-ins. 👍Engage your staff in a conversation around modifying games, sports or activities to incorporate universal design principles. Give your staff more agency in decision making. The result? Reduce resistance and increase buy-in.

Today is the #InternationalDayofPersonswithDisabilities. This year's theme, "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future," resonates deeply with me. Living with diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis, I've been fortunate to have incredibly supportive friends, colleagues, and employers. When needed, accommodations have been made to ensure I can thrive. One of my most memorable experiences was during EDIB training. When I asked the cohort, "Do I look disabled?", it sparked a valuable conversation about hidden disabilities. Let's continue to foster inclusive workplaces and communities where everyone can reach their full potential. #Inclusion #Accessibility

Why Inclusion Matters As a whole, we have all come a long way from the days when ‘normal people’ were kept far away from the ‘special people’, who were in their own world. Not that long ago, an individual born with a disability would be destined for a psychiatric facility. Those seek like dark times from many, many moons ago. Now we know better. Nobody is ‘normal’. And we do different things in terms of mainstreaming those people who with disabilities. As we undertake helping society be more accepting, it helps to address stereotypes and biases with our students. This can go a long way in removing the stigma that comes with having a disability. Inclusion in the classroom and acceptance of people with disabilities is incredibly important for many reasons. For one, it promotes a more diverse and welcoming learning environment where all students feel valued and respected. It also helps to break down societal barriers and stigmas that often surround disabilities, promoting a more accepting and inclusive community. By teaching students to appreciate and celebrate differences, we can help build a more compassionate and understanding society for everyone. #share #InclusionMatters #DisabilityAwareness #DiversityAndInclusion #AccessibleEducation #InclusiveEducation #EquityInEducation #SpecialNeedsEducation #DisabilityRights #BreakingBarriers #DiversityMatters #InclusiveCulture #SocialImpact #EqualOpportunities #Belonging #EmpathyInAction #InclusiveWorkplace #EducatorsForInclusion #EducationForAll

As a parent of a child with a disability, I understand the importance of coaching and inclusion. Recently, my son participated in a 5 km run, being the only one using a Running Frame, and he set a personal record yesterday! This experience reminded me of the value of inclusion and how it can lead to great achievements. That's why I recommend MaxInclusion to help bridge the gap and make your company truly inclusive. Let's work together to create a more accessible and welcoming environment for everyone. #inclusion #disabilityawareness #digitalaccessibility

Last week, I joined an insightful panel discussion on hidden disabilities, hosted by LexisNexis Risk Solutions Women Connected, Employee Resource Group. This event aimed to raise awareness and promote a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with hidden disabilities. Thank you to Yuliya Lapkovich for inviting Nii A O. and I! This experience prompted me to explore the Disability Allyship course, and I’m excited to share my top 3 takeaways: 1. Respect Boundaries: Always ask if someone is comfortable discussing their disability. Creating an open, respectful dialogue is key. 2. Foster Independence: Understand that some may decline help as they strive for independence, just like everyone else. 3. Celebrate Diversity: It’s a positive that everyone processes information differently. Embracing diverse thinking styles enriches our workplace and communities. I highly recommend the Disability Allyship course to anyone looking to deepen their understanding and support for colleagues and friends with hidden disabilities. It's truly a real eye-opener. #DisabilityAwareness #HiddenDisabilities #Inclusion #Diversity #DisabilityAllyship #WorkplaceInclusion

Tuesday 3 December is International Day of People with Disability - a chance to reflect on the power of inclusion in supportive and thriving learning communities. Inclusion isn’t a checklist, it’s an ongoing journey that involves leadership teams, educators, families, children and young people, and the broader community working together. When we embrace inclusivity, we create spaces where every child and young person feels they belong, and their unique strengths are valued. Looking for guidance on where to start, or how to strengthen inclusivity? Visit our website to see how Schools and Early Learning Services have implemented inclusion practices, download the Disability Inclusion Guide, and view fact sheets to use in your own learning community: https://lnkd.in/gDHwqbaF #InclusionMatters #DisabilityAwareness #ChampioningDisabilityEquity

Celebrating the Abilities ✨ This week, let's shift our perspective. Behind every diagnosis is a human being. Let's see the child, not the disability. Children with special needs have unique strengths and talents waiting to be discovered. By focusing on their abilities, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment where they can thrive. Here are some ways we can all make a difference: 1. Educate yourself: Learn about different disabilities and how to best support individuals with those needs. 2. Embrace empathy: Approach every interaction with an open mind and a kind heart. 3. Celebrate strengths: Focus on what each child can do, not what they can't. 4. Advocate for inclusion: Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, play, and grow alongside their peers. Together, let's make this week and every week a time to celebrate diversity and embrace the beauty of differences. #empathy #specialneedsawareness #inclusionmatters #seetheability #inclusion #spwecialneeds #newweek
