Forge is excited to announce its partnership with the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research - NITTTR Chennai. As the cornerstone institute for the South Indian region, NITTTR Chennai plays a vital role in enhancing technical education and training future educators. This collaboration marks a significant step in our mission to revolutionize technical education and innovation. At Forge, our mission is to unlock the innovation potential within academia and research by equipping the future and present workforces—students and industrial workers—with a potent blend of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit needed to tackle industry challenges head-on. A crucial part of this mission is building the capacity of educators through hands-on training, enabling them to guide student innovators in developing real-world solutions. Recognizing this need, Forge and NITTTR have joined forces to exchange information and leverage each other’s expertise, knowledge, and industry connections for mutual benefit. The collaboration focuses on incubating ideas from technical educators and facilitating the commercialization pathways for these initiatives. This partnership establishes two key centres. Firstly, the Center for Innovation-Centric Technical Education: Transforms faculty into innovation educators, mentors, and managers through intensive training to guide students in translating innovation into impactful solutions. This enables them to act as catalysts, translating innovations into market-dominating products. These "Innovation Educators" will then drive Forge's Accredited Innovation Programs. Secondly, the Center for Academic Innovation Projects bridges the gap between academia and industry by focusing on high-impact research with commercialization potential. It fosters collaboration and technology transfer, creating a structured system for identifying promising research projects and guiding them through various stages of product development, thereby creating a pipeline of innovation. The partnership. between Forge and NITTTR paves the way for a future where educators become catalysts for innovation, and academic brilliance seeding industry-changing solutions. Together, we shall foster a vibrant ecosystem that empowers educators, fuels student innovators, and accelerates commercially viable innovations from academic institutions. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras is offering a comprehensive 4-month certificate course in 'Innovation and Entrepreneurship - A Multi-disciplinary Approach.' Developing a culture of entrepreneurship is a complex and multidimensional process. (i) You need to develop the language and vocabulary. (ii) You need mental models for navigating the process and what to expect. (iii) You need some show-and-tell, for which the IIT Madras Research Park (IITMRP) is a great place. Here, one can see the process of entrepreneurship and innovation at play, and gain practical insights from real-world examples. (iv) You need to get attuned to the logical part of the process: vision, strategy, hiring people, goals and review. You need to appreciate the emotional aspects of the process: the failures, the ups and downs, etc. (v) You need to hear stories of what worked and why and what did not work and why. All of this needs to be acknowledged and celebrated. This 4-month certificate course is not just an initiative, but a testament to the commitment of Indian Institute of Technology, Madras towards fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
