Lease or Management agreements? As an expert in management agreements, it’s hard not to promote these! If done right – and well – they are hugely beneficial to both the operator and property owner. Last week I was on a panel talking about just this. It was great to hear from Alan Pepper, CEO of Orega about their experience as they have exclusively grown on management agreements and partnerships with property owners and occupiers. We were challenged by Aceil Haddad who chaired the discussion about whether the landscape would change with the economy (hopefully looking up). The answer is, for some property owners a lease will always be preferred or necessary BUT, where property owners understand the need to be more involved in the activation of their sites there will always be a space for management agreements and it is becoming a more common route.
