The highest laws provide the overarching principles, while the lower levels contain increasingly specific rules and guidelines. Establishing a regulatory body in a developing country like Lesotho comes with unique challenges. Limited financial resources often constrain its capacity to operate effectively, while a lack of skilled professionals and expertise can hinder decision-making and enforcement. Institutional overlaps and unclear mandates may lead to inefficiencies, and political interference can undermine the body's independence. Additionally, ensuring stakeholder engagement and public trust in the regulatory framework requires significant effort in a context where governance systems may already be under strain. Addressing these challenges requires a strategic approach, emphasizing capacity building, clear mandates, and fostering transparent, inclusive processes.

The push for a larger government framework in PNG, as seen in the NCDC financial powers debate and broader proposals, raises serious concerns. Expanding government size often leads to inefficiency, higher public spending, and increased taxes, burdening the private sector and stifling economic growth. Instead of growing bureaucracy, PNG should focus on streamlining governance, reducing unnecessary spending, and ensuring transparency to avoid the pitfalls of 'big government' and safeguard the future of its people. read more https://lnkd.in/gBpZkyzj
