Community foundations play a crucial role in promoting upward mobility through policy advocacy. As funders, conveners, champions, and partners, we participate in systems change efforts that dismantle barriers preventing individuals and families from reaching their full potential and help create conditions that foster economic success, power and autonomy, and dignity and belonging for all community members. To support community foundations looking to advance upward mobility and racial equity, the Urban Institute’s Upward Mobility Initiative created a new policy advocacy toolkit which walks readers through a step-by-step approach, from identifying data about local challenges to building a policy change campaign. Check out the new toolkit here: https://urbn.is/4fEKT9u.

🚀 We’re excited to announce the launch of the Global Advocacy Hub for Children and Families! 🌍 Born out of a deep commitment to creating lasting, positive change, the Global Advocacy Hub is a powerful platform dedicated to addressing the most pressing challenges faced by vulnerable children and families around the world. Our co-founders, Dana Humaid Al Marzooqi and Diana Gerson, have spent years engaged in various organizations, forums, and initiatives focused on child dignity and family well-being. Through these experiences, they recognized the need for a more unified, impactful approach—one that bridges research, grassroots advocacy, and global collaboration. This realization led to the creation of the Global Advocacy Hub for Children and Families. Our mission is clear - to unite diverse efforts and drive sustainable change by focusing on three key areas: 🌟Research & Literature Development: We aim to fill critical gaps in the literature by focusing on the specific needs of children and families. Through collaborative research and publication, we aim to inform and inspire both local and global actions. 🌟Empowerment through Evaluation: We are committed to supporting local organizations in measuring the impact of their programs. By fostering capacity building, promoting the replication of successful models, and expanding access to vital resources, we empower communities to create sustainable change. 🌟Multidisciplinary Collaboration: By bringing together academic leaders, universities, civil society, international organizations, and UN Agencies, we strive to transcend traditional silos. Our goal is to develop holistic solutions to complex community challenges, integrating diverse perspectives and expertise. The Global Advocacy Hub for Children and Families is more than just a project—it’s a movement. We are passionate about ensuring that every child and family has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. As we launch this initiative, we remain fully committed to our ongoing work and engagements. We believe that the synergies created by the Hub will only strengthen our efforts, enabling us to serve children and families more effectively across all our endeavors. We invite you to join us on this journey. Together, we can create a safer, healthier, and more equitable world for all. Last week, our Advocacy Strategist, Sarah, attended one of our client’s regional summits, and it was a fantastic success! You too can host an impactful summit by focusing on these three essential elements: 1. Set Clear Objectives: Begin with a defined purpose. Whether you're recapping legislative updates or exploring future growth opportunities, clear objectives guide your planning and help communicate the summit’s value to attendees. 2. Craft a Dynamic Agenda: Create a balanced schedule that includes a variety of topics relevant to your audience. Invite influential speakers and incorporate interactive sessions like workshops or panel discussions to keep participants engaged and foster collaboration. 3. Engage Your Community: Don’t just limit attendance to members—invite the community and prospective members too! This showcases your value while sharing critical information and building connections across your region. By focusing on these strategies, your summit can inspire and inform, leaving a lasting impact!
