🌍 On Finance Day at #COP29, Tree Aid, together with the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT and support from CGIAR’s Research Initiative on Climate Resilience, launched our new policy brief: Opportunities to Empower Climate Action in the Horn of Africa and the Sahel for Agriculture and Nature Under the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG). This report sheds essential light on the urgent needs for climate action in the region. For AFOLU sectors, the growing reliance on debt instruments in climate finance risks deepening debt vulnerabilities for countries already under pressure. Moreover, countries facing instability in the Sahel are receiving disproportionately less climate finance, calling for conflict-sensitive approaches. The message is clear: we must act now to address these inequities. Thank you to Pedro Anglaze Chilambe, Rabeca Lauriciano, Yodit Y. Seyoum, Charles Callaghan for partnering on this vital work. Let’s turn these insights into meaningful action for communities on the frontlines of climate change. 🌱 Read the brief for more insights and recommendations 👇 https://lnkd.in/ey7fnGZq #ClimateAction #ClimateFinance #TimeToAct #TreeAid #HornOfAfrica #Sahel
