No other global health problem requires a larger-scale solution than malnutrition. And we have the tools in our hands to make a difference now 🌾🌍 The key is building food systems that are climate-resilient and able to deliver the right macro- and micronutrients to as much of the population as possible. This can be done through the implementation of innovative solutions across the African continent, such as: 🐄 Agricultural technologies to increase the amount of milk produced in dairy farms in Kenya 🧂 Food fortification techniques to increase the uptake of micronutrients commonly used condiments Delve into this year’s report and read more about recent breakthroughs in the field of nutritional science. ⬇️ https://gates.ly/3MOQBZZ

💚 I'm excited to share that the results of my master's thesis have been published in The Lancet Regional Health - Southeast Asia. In our research, we explored dietary changes in Thailand over the last 60 years and their impact on public health and the environment. The findings show a significant increase in the consumption of unhealthy and unsustainable foods, such as sugar and red meat. This trend is linked to the rise in non-communicable diseases and environmental impacts concerning greenhouse gas emissions, land use, and nutrient pollution. 📈 The study highlights the importance of transitioning towards more sustainable diets - reducing the intake of sugar, red meat, and saturated oils, while increasing the intake of vegetables and unsaturated oils - which can benefit both human and planetary health. 🥗 🌏 I’m grateful for the help and support of my advisors Assoc. Prof. Dr. Karunee Kwanbunjan and Prof. Dr. Carola Strassner, as well as for the collaboration between Mahidol University and FH Münster. The cultural exchange allowed us to explore global challenges together and develop potential solutions. 🌍 Food is Politics: Reflections from the #NutritionDialogue at the United Nations Last Friday, I had the honour of joining David Nabarro 4SD Foundation , and an extraordinary group of changemakers and many Geneva-based Agencies and NGOs for the #NutritionDialogue at the United Nations. With 2025 fast approaching—a landmark year for global nutrition—I find myself reflecting deeply on the critical urgency of the challenges ahead. It marks the end of the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition, the renewal of the World Health Organization's global nutrition targets, and the Nutrition for Growth Summit in Paris. These milestones demand bold action, systemic collaboration, and transformative thinking to amplify the voices and needs of women, children, and underserved communities. But are we truly treating nutrition with the urgency it deserves? 👉 Are we aligning investments with our priorities when 281.6 million people faced acute food insecurity in 2023, while military spending soared to $2.24 trillion? 👉 Are we breaking down silos between agriculture, culture, and health to make food a tool for regeneration rather than just sustenance? 👉 Are we ready to embrace nutrition not as a single sector but as the connective tissue of society? As I reflect on the inspiring work of organizations like Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), and the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement, I am reminded of the critical importance of integrating nutrition into every facet of global policy—from food systems to education, from health to culture. Imagine a world where schools teach the culture of food alongside math, where food companies compete to create nourishing, not addictive, products, and where investments prioritize health over pleasure and harm. 2025 cannot be another year of beautiful words but few actions. It must be the year where nutrition becomes the global priority it deserves to be. There will be many global events where we will have opportunities to meet and share ideas and projects. Davos, Paris, New York Belém ... Let's join forces, finance, politics, science economy - let's really make it a priority! #NutritionDialogues #FutureOfFood #EveryPlateCounts #GlobalHealth #FoodIsPolitics Future Food Institute

What an inspiring and fufilled day it has been for me! I had the privilege to present on the seminar topic titled, "Relationship between Nutrition and Sustainable Development Goals." This experience was not only enlightening but also provided me with a platform to share my research and findings with my respected lecturers and fellow course mates. A key insight that stood out for me was the significant influence of Nutrition on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), both directly and indirectly. Through my research, I discovered that Nutrition directly influence two SDGs and indirectly influence six SDGs. This underscores the crucial role of Nutrition in shaping progress towards a sustainable future. Another interesting finding I came across is that all the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has an influence on Nutrition. It's fascinating to see how each goal affects Nutrition in different ways, showing how they're all connected. I am delighted to have shared these insights during my seminar presentation and I extend my gratitude to my Lecturers for their valuable observations and contributions. It is evident that learning from proven and experienced leaders has significantly enriched my understanding. #NutritionGoals #SustainableDevelopment #SDGs #onepercentprogress #10dayslinkedinchallengewithshinzen

Global organizations, such as the World Health Organization and Global Nutrition Report, have highlighted the urgent need to address poor dietary habits and improve access to healthier foods. Meanwhile, 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 are seeking sustainable ways to grow crops that not only nourish communities but also provide financial benefits. Health experts and nutrition organizations worldwide are increasingly concerned about the 𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐚𝐩—a key factor in rising rates of chronic diseases like 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝟐 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬, 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬. Despite widespread knowledge of the importance of fiber, many populations still don’t get enough in their daily diets. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐟𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫, 𝐧𝐨𝐧-𝐆𝐌𝐎 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐭 could be a powerful solution.
