👏I was discussing this with my friend reflecting on how difficult it can be to stop and recognise your unwell. We said it's because when you always feel unwell, you have no other option but to push on. This relates especially to experiencing a late diagnosis of ADHD or ASD which too often leads to a profound struggle, especially when you've spent your entire life pushing through challenges without understanding the underlying reasons. This relentless effort can culminate in burnout, at which point well-meaning but misguided comments like "Why didn't you say anything?" or "You should have said something!" arise. These comments overlook the reality that you've been conditioned to push forward despite physical and mental exhaustion. The advice to "be kinder to yourself" often misses the mark, failing to recognise that for those with late-diagnosed ADHD or ASD, the instinct to keep going despite the toll it takes is deeply ingrained. Additionally, this constant pushing can mean you become out of tune with your body, as you're so used to having to push on regardless of how you feel. This is why post-diagnosis, is a rollacoaster of emotion and learning; your reconnecting with your senses and viewing yourself and the 🌎 differently.
If we have spent our entire lives doing all the background work that masking consists of, and being in a near-enough constant state of fight or flight, we haven’t been able to stop and think, ‘How am I feeling right now?’ We have been stuck in survival mode rather than having the capacity to focus on anything other than getting through the current ‘danger’. 📔 Taken from my new book How To Be You - pre-order now: https://amzn.to/4cnUiRu 🎟️ Grab tickets for the HTBY launch event here: https://lnkd.in/eumuPgZ3

Congrats Harrison Wise, and thanks Jessica Robinson, Marina Erulkar, Jaime Schwarz, and Cara Verwholt for contributing. My daughter even made her own submission - she's 10, and it was OUT THERE. Also, this was my first exercise in team building through AI tech. Everyone who participated (including others who dabbled but didn't submit the complete video) got to learn something new that could apply to other work or projects they're doing. Plus, it's fun. The best-case scenario is that the organization gets some great content, like Harrison's video (it's way better than what I tried doing myself as a demo). But beyond that, there's an experiential learning component that is critical for AI given how it's often generative -- you can use it to create something. Generate away. Thanks Jeremy Toeman and Augie Studio. I look forward to running way more challenges like this.
🏆Congrats Harrison Wise for winning the first-ever FOAF: Fraction of a Fractional CXOs Video Challenge!🏆 FOAFers were given access to Augie Studio (thanks Jeremy Toeman) and asked to create a video promo for our fractional exec network. FOAFers then voted on the winning video, and Harrison's wound up being the clear favorite, earning him bragging rights -- and a cash prize. Thanks to Cara Verwholt, Marina Erulkar, Jessica Robinson, and Jaime Schwarz for your masterful submissions. We might just have to share the whole spread. Meanwhile, let us know what you think!

A few months ago, we announced a sponsorship agreement between our community Oldboys.GG and the wellknown hardware company ASUS. That served as a base for 20 online events hosted untill end of January and already now there has been hosted ASUS Aimstars (1v1) and ASUS Wingman (2v2) a few times for our 20.000+ users. To add further to this, we just hosted our first old-fashion, and very nerdy, computer LAN in cooporation with ASUS and VUC in Denmark. Other companies pitched in as well, creating a baseline for a brilliant weekend. When we rose above 10.000 danish gamers in our community a few years ago, with the perfect age profile, we started getting ALOT of inquiries about sponsorship, tabbing into the customer data and such - something that we instantly decided to avoid. We would love to continue to start cooporations with other companies, but with one thing in mind every time - our members. If a cooporation cannot be directly translated into a added feature or improvement for the users, then its an instant no. We are not here for the imaginary shareholders, we are here for the members - and I love that our userbase and event activity is evergrowing, just to prove that it's the right approach. https://oldboys.gg/
