"𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗗𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲" Who needs a fancy degree to prove you're a genius when you've got the entire internet as your classroom? Seriously, think about it—there's a YouTube tutorial for everything from coding AI to folding a fitted sheet (and let’s be honest, the latter is arguably harder). But here’s the kicker: self-education isn’t just a trend; it’s the ultimate flex. Gone are the days when learning was locked behind ivy-covered walls. Today, knowledge is as accessible as your next Wi-Fi connection, and the rise of self-education has turned lifelong learning into a power move. Language learning, for instance, has gone from clunky textbooks to mobile apps where you can pick up a new language on the go. Want to impress at work or binge foreign Netflix shows without subtitles? Boom. You’re covered. Employers? They’re catching on, too. These days, hiring managers are just as impressed by your self-taught Mandarin as they are by a framed piece of paper. So, while degrees might still matter, skills talk louder, especially when you’ve got receipts in the form of projects, certifications, or a fluent Zoom call with a client overseas. So, what are you learning next? Because in this world of endless resources, the question isn’t if you’ll learn—it’s what and when. Pro tip: start with Qurocity.ai, because mastering a language? That’s a life skill no algorithm can replace. #selfeducation #upskilling #career #careergrowth #qurocity #lifeskills #careerskills

I strongly advocate for practical quality education. The type of education that gets students involved in the learning process from the beginning to the end. The type of education that discourages cramming and encourages practical problem-solving using knowledge learnt in each of the subjects. Now, if you are a teacher reading this post and interested in becoming better at your teaching skill, then I have a suggestion for you. There are many relevant ways to improve your teaching skill. But one of the ways is to use the available powers of AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, etc., to create practical and enjoyable learning for your students, plus your knowledge as a teacher, too! Here are some ways you can leverage tools like ChatGPT, Google Bard, etc., in education: You can use it to generate thought-provoking questions and topics, which encourages class discussions and critical thinking. You can use it to create swift slide presentations and present using a projector, perfect for schools that have projectors. You can use it to get interactive activities based on the topics being taught; it can suggest class activities for that English topic and so on. You can use it to create effective homework for your students. You can use it to suggest practical ways of ascertaining whether your students have learned or not. And so on. Remember to use your knowledge as a teacher while making use of the outputs ChatGPT gave you. The goal is not to allow AI to use you, but rather you should be the one using AI to solve problems in any skill you possess. Your clothes should not wear you; rather, you should wear the clothes. I hope I made sense with this? NOTE: I will be sharing some of my posts that I have shared in my other socials for these past months. A lot has happened and I hope you will learn one or two from it. Happy Weekend and enjoy the rest of the day.

An often overlooked point it that it’s fun to learn new stuff, and conversely most of us feel like 💩 when we cheat. This article is a good example of that. Maybe we should put more attention on the emotional aspect of learning and less on the transactional? As learning stuff for a future job we’re not even sure will exist feels disembodied. But learning stuff because it gives us a buzz is more immediate. What do you think? https://lnkd.in/ebyPTC5F

An AI mindset in education involves identifying what is changing about the world and how schools need to respond. Here's one example: AI is exceptional at replicating academic writing. Let's think about that. You know how schools have a tendency to narrow their curriculum to university preparation: As an English teacher one of the best things many aspire to is ensuring students are ready to write that academic paper for English 101. An AI mindset is asking us to question that long standing assumption. My recommendation: increase your focus on essential skills, even more than you already do. This narrowing to skills will suddenly make the academic paper too bulky and too vague for any kind of focused assessment. I'll put my top 10 list of essential skills in the comments, but the more important list is the one that directs your planning. Additionally, 1. Please become super expert on how to assess essential skills in multiple genres, whether it's a YouTube video or an academic essay. 2. Focus on cross pollination from the different disciplines. 3. Learn how to see good thinking at work in various aspects of daily life, whether it's a conversation in an elevator or the outline of a new concept on the back of a napkin. 4. Notice, too, how poems can contain arguments, how sometimes arguments are poetic. When I focus on the essential skill of problem finding, for example, students actually write less. They spend way more time thinking about what matters, being creative, assessing their own lives and trends, they start talking to each other more genuinely, and we often spend entire classes on just one sentence. One sentence vs. a 1000 word essay. Just one example of what an AI mindset will cause us to question. I am curious to know more about how you approach having an AI mindset in your classes, whether it relates to essential skills or some other strategy. #Education #ArtificialIntelligence #Learning #Teaching #schools #InstructionalDesign #Assessment

I was responding to a comment about #AILiteracy for students, and decided to make it a post: LITERACY skills… the basics, including reading comprehension and proof-reading skills, are going to be more important than necessarily knowing how a specific tool might work. Every tool will start with conversation to determine the strength of the tool for the task. The fact that students are going to have to master the art of communication to effectively use AI is incredibly encouraging. All it will do if they don’t, is expose the weakness. We’re seeing it with tons of ADULTS attempting to use LLM’s for shortcuts, lol. Here’s what you can do right now, with #AIinLearning: 1. You can create a very detailed curriculum from a course title alone. Multiple units and a quiz that allows students to easily navigate. This can be done on a variety of platforms with varied content results, but with fully editable and differentiated content. You can obviously upload your own outlines with more tailored results. 2. You can create a closed data loop, so your students aren’t getting unfiltered results from another source. Training your own chat bots and agents with which students can interact. With a photo and a bit of voice recording, you can give your students yourself as an agent in your own curriculum. They would have access to you and your lesson knowledge 24/7. Differentiated instruction is instantly a reality, because students will connect where they are, and your agent will have all the unit knowledge, so the complexity of the student question will determine agent response. Struggling student will get your most academic support, and advanced students will receive more intricate responses based on their targeted questions. 3. You can create tutors who possess expertise beyond your own capabilities. For example, if you struggle making an emotional connection with your students, you can train an agent to be helpful, understanding, and as empathetic as a machine can be (it has the definition, it’ll do its best). 4. You can create agents to create content for you in a workflow, from their unique perspectives, so your students can learn almost by observing and evaluating conversationally constructed learning between machines. You’ll never have to create a lesson that comes only from your own perspective again. These are just a few things I’ve discovered in my own exploration. ALL OF THESE THINGS REQUIRE INCREDIBLE ATTENTION TO DETAIL. And honestly, most ADULTS in the U.S. are not ready for a tool like this.

My writing: I'm infinitely curious. Many who see what I am doing on Linkedin might be wondering "What is he doing?" It's an experiment (more about this in the future). I love learning about many topics and although I learn and implement lessons constantly, this corporate world (although many profess to the contrary) discriminates against people without formal qualifications (but knowledge from experience matters too). So, while I learn about many subjects, I am doing so an sharing what I've done. Hence, many short courses, certifications, and other qualifications... To be blunt: Much of the information I learn about are things that I already know or they are (or should be) common sense. But here I am, feeding the monster. AI's writing: I'm always fueled by curiosity, sparking questions like "What is he doing?" Rest assured, it's all part of an ongoing experiment that I'll share more about in the future. While I delve into diverse topics and continuously absorb new insights, I've noticed a prevalent bias in the corporate realm favoring formal qualifications over experiential knowledge. Despite this, I embrace learning and sharing through various short courses, certifications, and qualifications. Admittedly, much of the information I encounter seems familiar or rooted in common sense. Yet, I persist in feeding my curiosity and expanding my horizons. #Curiosity #ContinuousLearning #KnowledgeSharing I prefer my own words as the AI seems contrived. But that's just me.

"Why Discovering Rules Beats Memorizing Them 📚💡" Have you ever tried to learn something new and felt bogged down by endless rules to memorize? Here’s a thought: what if we focused on discovering those rules instead of cramming them? Here’s why this approach works wonders for deep learning: 1️⃣ Active Engagement 🔍 When we observe patterns and try to derive the rules ourselves, we become active participants in the learning process. This not only keeps us engaged but also boosts our understanding and retention. Studies from Edutopia show that active discovery leads to longer-lasting knowledge. 2️⃣ Critical Thinking Skills 🧠 Formulating rules forces us to analyze and evaluate. It encourages curiosity and develops critical thinking—a skill that extends far beyond the classroom or workplace. The American Psychological Association highlights that active learning fosters problem-solving abilities better than passive memorization. 3️⃣ Memory Retention 🗂️ When we generate rules ourselves, we create stronger mental connections. This is supported by the generation effect, a well-documented phenomenon in cognitive psychology. According to Psychology Today, creating information actively helps us remember it better than simply hearing or reading it. 4️⃣ Adaptability 🌟 Real-world problems rarely come with pre-defined rules. By practicing discovery, we learn how to adapt and create solutions from scratch—making us more versatile thinkers. 💬 Example: Instead of memorizing the steps to solve a math problem, imagine solving the problem yourself by identifying the underlying mathematical principles at play. As you work through the solution, you’ll begin to notice patterns in how variables interact, and you’ll discover the rules behind the steps on your own. This process doesn’t just teach the rules—it makes them part of your intuitive understanding! When you start from the principle and derive the steps, you’re not just memorizing—you’re discovering how everything connects, making it more meaningful and easier to remember. Let's focus on discovering rather than memorizing—because understanding the "why" makes the "what" stick. What are your thoughts on this approach to learning? Share your experiences below! #LifelongLearning #ActiveLearning 💡 #CriticalThinking 🧠 #EducationMatters 📚 #PersonalGrowth 🌱
