If there are words one can go by describing this meeting #CatalysingChangeWeek2024 today (8th May, 2024 at 2pm WAT): It was a great meeting with so much information and insights into how we can move the continent of Africa 🌍 forward in the areas of youth skills empowerment and development, thereby harnessing our growing youth population. The panelist (Serge-Auguste Kouakou, Joannes Paulus Yimbesalu ) did a great job, and also the moderators (Aramide Abe); as we have begin setting a clear framework towards 2030 on development; through informed-data-driven decisions and inclusiveness at all levels. As a developing continent;there is so much available room for growth, and the emerging of big cities coming from Africa - staying on this development track: We see the posibilities!

It also means creating an enabling environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. By empowering youth, we can: 1. Unlock Africa's economic potential 2. Foster a culture of innovation and progress 3. Build a more inclusive and equitable society 4. Address the root causes of migration and brain drain 5. Create a brighter future for generations to come The power of empowering youth in Africa is immense, and it is essential to prioritize their development and well-being to create a prosperous and vibrant continent. And thank you Proudly South African for great webinar and having Nicolette Mashile as the host. Most importantly the speakers who were the part of the panel. #YouthforSDGs #youthforagenda2030 #youthforagenda2063 I'm thrilled to be part of the workshop series the Africa SDGs Mentorship Programme impactful-educative training. My reflections are the 7 Aspirations of Agenda 2063: Africa's development blueprint to achieve inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development. The Africa We Want as young people we need to be part of the decision-making and participate effectively on the key Flagship Programmes which can boost Africa's economic growth and development that lead to the rapid transformation of the continent. Agenda 2063 seeks to deliver on a set of Seven Aspirations each with its own set of goals which if achieved will move Africa closer to achieving its vision for the year 2063. These 7 Aspirations reflect the desire for shared prosperity and well-being, for unity and integration, for a continent of free citizens and expanded horizons, where the full potential of women and youth are realised, and with freedom from fear, disease and want. As African youth we believe that together, we can make significant strides towards sustainable development across the continent.

THE ZAMBIAN 🇿🇲 INNOVATORS AND ENTREPRENEURS ARRIVED SAFELY IN RWANDA 🇷🇼 ON 7TH NOVEMBER,2024. I’m currently in Rwanda participating in the the youth connekt Africa under the theme of this year, Jobs for Youth through Innovative Skilling, YouthConnekt Africa seeks to deliver on the following policy outcomes. 1. Build a comprehensive understanding of the different facets of youth underemployment and unemployment in Africa working to gain insights into the root causes, regional disparities, and socio-economic implications. 2. Inform and influence investments into tailored market-relevant Skills Development and Job Creation - supporting a global partnership approach where skills development is designed to meet the diverse needs and aspirations of African youth and adapted to current and future market demands. 3. Enhanced Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange among policymakers, educators, employers, and youth advocates in Africa to foster a multi-stakeholder approach, synergies and coherence to tackling youth unemployment. 4. Showcase Successful Initiatives. The continent at large has started to demonstrate pockets of evidence that it is possible to skill youth and connect them to employment opportunities that are locally based and/or globally sourced. We seek to inspire strategic investments and collaborations in market-driven/informed youth-skilling programs and accelerate turnaround times. In order to realize our shared vision for a prosperous and inclusive Africa, we must ensure that women and youth are included in our economies. At the High-Level Advocacy Breakfast on the Women and Youth Financial and Economic Inclusion initiative (WYFEI 2030) this morning, I addressed this critical issue. Only 37% of African women have access to formal financial services compared to 48% of men, and youth under 25 make up 60% of the continent’s unemployed. Women entrepreneurs still face a 42 billion USD financing gap. Through WYFEI 2030, we aim to unlock $100 billion for 10 million women and youth across Africa by 2030. With programmes such as Energize Africa 100 Million MSMEs, Creating Opportunities for Youth and Women in Africa (COYWA), Skills Initiative for Africa (SIFA), our results contribute to achieving the objectives of WYFEI 2030 We must accelerate the implementation of WYFEI 2030, by fostering innovation, inclusion and intergenerational partnerships. We also need to leverage and build robust monitoring and reporting systems to hold us accountable for achieving these ambitions. Together, we can create an Africa where women and youth are drivers of their own destinies.

🌟 What an incredible privilege to speak alongside such inspiring personalities at the recent United Nations Nigeria "Celebrating UN@79 #PactForTheFuture"; Dialogue with the Future Generation! Engaging with visionary leaders like Mr. Tayo Olusunde, CEO of MindThe_GapNg; Titilope Adeyemi, Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives; Babatunde Adelekan; Lailah Sanusi Gumbi; Babatunde Adelekan; Adigun Ibrahim; Rafiat Atanda; Dr. Joy Rademene Asonye; and Austin Erameh was truly enlightening. 💡 Their insights into youth development, innovation, and social impact sparked conversations with the potential to shape the future. During the session, I engaged in a discussion on how the UN can further promote and support youth-led initiatives in Nigeria—particularly in the areas of social entrepreneurship and innovation. We explored the critical areas where young people can expect support to turn their ideas into sustainable ventures, aligning with the broader vision for youth empowerment in Nigeria. We also appreciate the United Nations, IOM - UN Migration for empowering youth to have a voice in policymaking, both in Nigeria and on the global stage. This vital inclusion enables young leaders to actively shape policies that impact their futures and communities. Special thanks to the United Nations for setting up the #PACTfortheFuture and for its dedication to fostering youth involvement at every level. Such initiatives are more than programs; they are lifelines for innovation and economic resilience for the next generation. Looking forward to seeing the impact of this platform as it continues to support and inspire young leaders across Nigeria and Africa. 🌍✨ #YouthEmpowerment #SocialEntrepreneurship #Innovation #Nigeria #UNYouth #PACTForTheFuture #SustainableDevelopment #FutureLeaders #PolicyMaking #Inspiration #AfricanYouth

Rethinking Africa: A Call for Empowerment and Recognition of Richness In recent years, the narrative surrounding Africa has often been framed through a lens of poverty and underdevelopment. However, this perspective overlooks the vast beauty, richness, and potential that the continent holds. Africa is not a monolith of poverty; it is a diverse continent with incredible landscapes, rich cultures, and immense resources. The real wealth of Africa lies in its people, especially its youth. The continent is home to a rapidly growing young population, full of ambition and innovative ideas. What Africa needs is not pity but empowerment. By investing in education and vocational training, we can unlock this potential. Young people should be at the forefront of driving change, equipped with the knowledge and skills to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities. It's crucial for governments, corporations, NGOs, and international organizations to work together in this endeavor. Involving young people in decision-making processes, creating opportunities for entrepreneurship, and investing in sustainable development initiatives are key steps toward transforming Africa's future. Let us move beyond outdated stereotypes and recognize the true value of Africa. It's time to celebrate its successes, acknowledge its challenges without defining it by them, and commit to empowering its most valuable asset: its youth. Together, we can foster a continent that thrives on innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity. #unesco #worldvision #transformyourmind
