Super excited to announce my first completed project in Sweden: Doori, a sustainable Korean restaurant in Växjö! 🌿🍴 This journey has been all about combining my passion for sustainability with creating an efficient, welcoming space. Here's what we achieved: * Complete Interior Design & Execution: Using reclaimed wood, bamboo, and eco-friendly materials, I designed the entire space, making sustainability a priority in every detail. * 40% Waste Reduction: By streamlining operations and cutting waste, we’ve reduced our footprint significantly. * 25% Increase in Efficiency: Optimized layouts and smarter workflows have boosted service speed and customer satisfaction. * Local Sourcing: Partnered with a local vendor to ensure fresh, sustainable produce, reducing our carbon footprint while supporting the community. This is my first project here in Sweden, and I am beyond proud of what we’ve built. It’s not just about the food, but about showing that sustainability and efficiency can work hand in hand. Watch the video to see how it all came together! #FirstProjectInSweden #Sustainability #Efficiency #WasteReduction #InteriorDesign #Doori #KoreanFood #Växjö #LocalSourcing

Empowering Collective Innovation for Public Good What if our greatest strengths in transforming the public policies and services lie not in individual mandates, but in the power of diverse perspectives and inclusive collaboration to reach a collective goal? It’s not always easy for individuals or public organisations to rise above their own objectives and work toward broader, shared outcomes. Even when we are given the mandate of the 'whole-of-government', or public engagement with our citizens, facilitating towards a collective goal requires an inclusive and democratic, accessible yet purposeful approach. My team at ThinkPlace did just that, bringing our years of purposeful engagement to these workshops at the Singapore Designweek! Jervenne Teo Hui-Min Rae T. Kit, Oi Keat Lam Deborah Loh Norashikin Hasanan Cheryl Lim Cornago My reflections are as such: 1️⃣ People's lived experiences fuel creativity: By bringing together individuals from different backgrounds, generations, and experiences, we tap into a rich pool of ideas that challenge the status quo. This blend of perspectives sparks innovation—creating solutions that are more relevant, empathetic, and impactful. As much as we integrate AI into our lives, we must continue to unleash the collective wisdom of human experiences. 2️⃣ Inclusion drives meaningful change: Designing for everyone means designing with everyone, even when it’s challenging to harmonize diverse voices. Inclusive design isn't just about accessibility—it’s about ensuring that every voice is heard and valued throughout the process. 3️⃣ Impact is a shared goal: Public and social good thrive when we focus on collective outcomes, not individual gains. Whether we’re rethinking policies, creating new public services, or addressing societal challenges, co-creation through testing with diverse voices ensures that what we build is more sustainable, equitable, and far-reaching. Let’s keep harnessing the strength of our collective voices to design the future we all want to live in. #InclusiveDesign #PurposefulFacilitation #DiversityMatters #ImpactfulChange #DesignForGood
🎉That's a wrap for 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰! We had the amazing opportunity to be involved in Singapore Design Week again this year and was able to conduct 3 workshops on the topic of 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀. For 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, we explored what it means to be age inclusive in design and co-created an inclusion framework for inclusive design solutions with our participants. For 𝗝𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗮𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗶, we learned about frugal innovation and went about searching for examples of it in our everyday life, co-creating a map of all frugal innovations here in Singapore. For 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱, we discover the power of prototyping in policy making to guide us in re-designing some interesting policies all over the world and voted for each new policies. 💡Thank you to DesignSingapore Council for having us as part of this event. And most importantly, we want to thank everyone for taking the time to participate in our workshops and are so inspired by the diverse perspectives and ideas that came out of them! We'd love to keep hearing from you so please continue to share your ideas with us! 😭 Bumped that you missed out on the fun? No sweat because there's more fun to come! 🤭Make sure to stay tune to keep up to date with our upcoming workshops and events! #SDWSG2024 #SingaporeDesignWeek #TPSG #ThinkPlaceSG #codesign #design #inclusivity #workshop #inclusivedesign #policy #policydesign #innovation #jugaad #frugal Credit: Music by Jacob Sapp from Pixabay

Join us for a look behind the scenes at our #Salamander production in #Türkheim! What does innovation mean to us? When creating products, we combine sustainability with design in a seamless and aesthetic way. Our approach to #sustainability is as holistic as possible, considering it at every step in the life cycle of our products. At the beginning, developing a product means using as little material as possible and only as much as absolutely necessary. Finally, at the end of a product's life, as much material as possible is returned back into the production cycle as recycled material. We are committed to continuous improvement and see #sustainability as an ongoing process in which we are constantly looking for a better solution. Experience how we make aesthetic sustainability tangible with our innovations at the #FensterbauFrontale in March. #SalamanderWindows #WindowConstruction #myWindow

Today, alongside Christian-Andre Keun and Sebastian Mends-Cole, I had the fantastic opportunity to discuss the future of industry with the Handelskammer Hamburg. The message is clear: Innovation which doesn’t aim to create a sustainable tomorrow is stagnation, not progress. It's time to change our thinking and focus on a circular economy. The focus is on collectively shaping the path from a linear to a circular economy, so that the flow of materials back into new products part of the design itself. Through circular design, what was once waste becomes a valuable resource. Every innovation, every product, and every process should aim to have a positive impact on our environment. Let's work together to shape the future through sustainable design. Circular Design Hub Hamburg #designfürdenanfang

🔊 Traditional doesn't mean regressive 🔊 "We are very traditional here" is something I hear often as a barrier to tech-driven innovation. As we see in The Talavera Project, you can drive forward innovation as a culture and mindset supported by advanced tools, without replacing tradition or erasing history. It's about looking to the future, without ignoring the past. When done right, innovation preserves legacy, it doesn't destroy it. What does The Talavera Project tell us about innovation? 🖊️ It works with tradition, not against it 🧠 A shift in mindset can enrich culture, strengthen identity, and create new opportunities 🔐 You can rethink regulations and security in a safe way 💭 Failure to embed innovation and share knowledge prevents growth, increases risk, and devalues workers ♻️ New approaches help to achieve circular sustainability and reduce cost Do you see any intersections between innovation and tradition at your own workplace? How can we see opportunities at these intersections, rather than barriers? #innovationatscale #cultureofinnovation #collectiveintelligence

How can an object truly engage with its environment? The team at Sungai Design in Indonesia has created something beautiful out of plastic waste plucked from Indonesia’s rivers. They’ve transformed what might otherwise be discarded into an aesthetic feature rather than just an afterthought. Every chair is made from 2,000 upcycled plastic bags, and to date, they have collected over 2,300,000 kg of plastic, 36% of which are plastic bags. But it’s more than just being green. Their designs intricately weave local cultures and natural landscapes into their work, creating pieces that are both innovative and deeply respectful of their surroundings. It’s a glimpse into a future where design doesn’t just coexist with the environment but actually enhances it. How can we start viewing all types of waste as a valuable resource for creating eco-solutions to meet global needs?
